I am 22 years old and have been lurking here for awile as I grow mt hair out. I would like to be part of the group, can I post my picture yet? Thanks for being here for me.
I am not on the "staff" here, but I don't see why you shouldn't post your picture, even if you are "new". Others have done so including myself. My own hair is not yet very long, though I am at nearly a year since my last cut.
I am discovering that long hair is more of a philosophy of life than the number of inches. Of course we would all like it longer rather than shorter, and some on this forum have very long hair. A good few of us are still in "awkward stage", a stage we all have to go through and when there is the most pressure from those around us to get it cut.
I wish you courage. I often wish I was 22 when my own hair was thicker and a nice chestnut brown with a slight tinge of red. Now it is all white! Do it while you are still young!

Ahhh, to be 22 again.... "Go for broke", man -- you only get one chance here on planet Earth; so if you want to grow your hair out, why not go ahead and do that while you're young? I didn't achieve ponytail-length on my own hair until my 40th birthday... DON'T WAIT THAT LONG (as I did) -- grow it NOW, you won't regret it!

There are two kinds of pictures you see here. One is the small picture at the upper left like you see on this post. We call them avatars. They link to your personal web site or a larger version of the small picture, whichever you prefer.
All the other pictures are posted each time. Anyone is welcome to post those, no matter how new they are to the site.
The avatars are set up manually, and they take a small amount of work on someone's part. Because some people post just once or a few times, they don't do avatars until someone has, by their posting activity, indicated they intend to stick around and post for awhile. This process is handled by humans, not a computer, so there is no magic number of posts that makes you suddenly eligible for one. If you've been active for about a month, that's probably plenty of activity to get one.
Some newcomers think they have to have an avatar to post, because a lot of sites require a process called "registration". We don't have that. Anyone can post, so it's not necessary to get an avatar before jumping right in. The avatars are not intended for hair growth progress pictures. Their purpose is to help everyone sort out who the other active people are. Avatars are the same every time a user who has one posts. All the other pictures should be different each time, so as to not bore others.
