Had a question...
I've been noticing the ends of hair looking and feeling differently than the rest of the hair. I check all that I can about once a week and I don't see any split ends, however there appears to be a slight discoloration comparing the ending 2 or 3". It seems be lighter brown than the rest.
Any thoughts on what may be going on? I know this is the oldest part of my hair, so could it just be dying or something?

Tommy, since your hair appears dark...I'm guessing that those ends are lighter because of sunlight. My hair lightens in the summer and the longest ends of the hair are the lightest.
*whew* that's a relief!

It is more normal than not for a longhair to notice a color difference when he lifts up his ends and places them right above his forehead. The color change is gradual and seldom noticed going down his mane, but putting the oldest and newest parts of his hair next to each other usually shows an obvious change.
Those of you who have never done this (and don't color or bleach your hair), try it!

Thanks Bill, I learn something everyday :)

i don't have any change in color from top to the ends.
But then at the age of 60 my hair is now all grey.
Bleached by the sun, Tommy.. and one little hair fact I am really looking forward to experiencing again! That natural lightening of the hair is so awesome!
Now that I know it's not bad news, it is sort of cool :D

Hi Tommy,
I just think it's natural highlighting. Mother Nature is cool like that! Your hair looks wonderful buddy! Not to worry!

This is probaly due to the sun exposure and shampooing that the longest part of your hair as experienced relative to new growth. To protect your natural color and the overall health of this hair, I use WEN conditioning cleansers ONLY, Period. to clean, followed by some Ojon rare blend oils on the ends.Result, healthy, no split ends and no fading of color over time. Try it.
Complete normal and nice Californian style haha
20 or so years ago when my hair was only shoulder length and on the other side of my last haircuts I worked outside all year round. my hair would be my natural dark brown under my cap that I wore, but the hair going down my neck and shoulders would be quite light, the ends being almost blond. natural sun bleaching is awesome, and the girls love it.
