Just for fun, I was inspired by Raul's beard journey (that ended with an epic shave on YT haha). I decided to give my Opie (or whatever the guys name was) beard a try. I think this is somewhere in the 6-7 weeks range, 9 for the chin area.
I have to ask, how do you guys stand the mustache being so long? I'm not digging the messiness during eating and the overall feeling of it on my lips!
Weird, not sure what I did wrong on the first pic....try this :)
Your beard looks great, Tommy - I like the beard and hair combo, too - but your hair continues to look awesome anyway - whether you keep the beard or not.
I am considering growing my beard - considering it as the last quarter of my journey - October to my 2 year goal in December. I've already got long sideburns and a soul patch - so why not.
Hey, nice beard you got there, just another awesome combo with hair. Well, I don't have the perfect genes for growing a nice beard like you or others, but the only thing I can say to you is, when my mustache starts to grab into my mouth I just trim it a little bit.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers
Hey there! Mine has slowly filled since I was 17..I've still got some patches missing but when it gets long I can hide most of them :) In 8 or 9 more years I'm sure you'll be able to grow much more!

A mustache does take getting used to, and to the extent it gets inside your mouth, you may never get used to it.
Often, the concern is not how long the hair is, but at which angle it grows, and whether it curls inward. My solution for years has been that, if a mustache hair bothers me, I just then and there bite it off!

Funny you would say that, sometimes that's just what happens, whether I meant to or not.... I try to keep scissors handy and end up going to the mirror while I'm eating to deal with the problem....sometimes it's the hairs from the bottom curling upward...
Have Fun.... The Spaf Man
What a GREAT beard, Tommy! Man, I wonder why have you kept it hidden from the world so long, that this is a magnificent facial mane, and compliments your long hair SO well =) WOW!
How long do you plan on growing it?
Btw, I completely agree about the 'stache part. HATE HATE HATE IT (on myself).
I totally understand it's a crucial part of a beard, and it looks silly trimming it short and ruly while having a big EPIC beard alongside it, but having that brush of hair under your nose, getting in the way of towel drying your face, kissing your girl, and everything else... bah, disgusting feeling.
I keep trimming the hairs just as they reach the upper lip, but still hate the feeling it gives me when kissing my girl.. the onyl thing that is better beardless, really.
I think I'm about done. I hate the patches I have, and I think it looks much better at shorter length on myself. I do really find the mustache super annoying for all those reasons you said too! I feel like if I was going to rock the bears full time it would have to be James Harden-esque... But alas I don't think I've got the genes for that.
I hope to be getting a real beard trimmer soon so I can find that perfect length I like and keep it there.
Totally understand you, brother... the look of a beard and the feel of a beard are two different things, and I am still struggling with teaching myself to know and like the feeling ;)
I do believe you'll be happy with a pair of good clippers in order to maintain a length which works for you.
you look amazing!
Hi Tommy,
I have never had a mustache except once in my late thirties. It was so pitiful looking I got rid of it in a hurry! And now my facial hair grows in white and gray! That just wouldn't look right with brown hair on my head!
But, you look great here with your facial hair! I have to ask, how did you get your hair to look like that? Is it still wet? Keep it growing my friend!
Ted
Haha thanks Ted. This was just after the shower, I brushed it but it was still incredibly wet!
Looking good Tommy, both hair and beard... please see my post below about trimming...
...also I suggest keeping napkins/paper towels on hand while eating.. Have Fun with it.... The Spaf Man
Thanks! I had been using my clippers on the mustache to keep it above the lip, but I wanted to see how the it would go when I stopped...
Nice beard , Tommy !
It looks amazing on you.
Unfortunately I can't grow a beard simply because I am allergic to my own beard hair. If I let my beard grow more than 2 or 3 days, my skin breaks out so I always shave every other day to avoid having a beard.
In fact, I am going through laser hair removal right now because shaving every other day is a waste of time to me and letting my beard grow is crearly not an option.
Tommy,
Your beard and hair look great. You have the perfect combo going on there. I understand about the mustache though, and keep my facial hair really short just for that reason. My dad used to sport a beard but never a mustache, my oldest brother did that for awhile also. But now they both keep clean shaven. My other brother also has a beard and mustache but unlike me he lets his go wild which is fitting for his personality. I don't know how he keeps from eating his mustache all the time, or maybe it's just part of his diet.

Tommy, That beard looks wonderful with your hair!
Keep up the good work.
