Hello,
I used to wear a ponytail to sleep, but it pulled through the night when I twist & turn, & I woke up with nearly a handful of hairs in the bed every time. Now I don't wear a thing and I wake up looking like a lion, & it takes me like 10 minutes to detangle it & shape it into form. I have very thin, curlyish/wavy hair. I tried using oil or conditioner but it stains the pillow & beadsheets too much.
Any help would be appreciated!
If you put your hair up in a bun for sleeping, that will solve your problems. Put it high, on top of your head. That way, you will not be laying on a bump, and you won't be twisting it around as you toss and turn, damaging hairs. You don't have to make it tight. In fact, it's much better for your hair if you make it kind of loose. Use a loose metal free schunchie, like the kind you so often see women wearing on their wrist. Since I've been doing this, I wake up with NO KNOTS AT ALL. It's real easy to just brush my hair out in the morning and go.
Great advice, thanks! How about those kinda fish net thingies? Not that I'm crazy about them... they would seem to further hold a bun in place. Although they it may be a tangle hazard?
Cheers, Abe
I havn't tried those, but I think that they would probably work well.
Good idea!
Wear it in a not too tight braid at night. Undo it carefully in the morning and it might not even need brushing
Depending on your hair length (and your bed setup), you can just make sure that your hair is draped back over the top of your pillow (dangling over the back of the bed or on the bed). That way you you won't be lying on top of it which is how it usually gets messed up. If you toss and turn a lot or don't sleep on your back then this may not work as well for you but if you are going to grow it long you may need to make some adjustments to your lifestyle like the way you sleep.
It usually doesn't take me too long to detangle my hair in the morning. One possible reason could be the straightening pomade I apply after each shampooing in the morning. The pomade which is helpful in preventing the frizzies in the humidity, is also a detangler. Great product!!!
My hair isn't too long yet, only about 6 1/2 inches. But what I do is put my hair into a kind of loose tail(not too high),then I add more hair ties going down the length of the tail to keep it all together. It really seems to help prevent it from tangling. But all of my hair won't stay in the tail,so the top still gets a little messy, but the back is great.
