Hey all, just wanted to give an up-date. I have finally been able to put myself together and will head back to work on Monday. I am still trying to get myself able to grow my hair out. This seems to be heading in a bit of a new direction. I am finding that work needs me because a co-worker is going out on leave for knee surgery. She is also Native (documented Cherokee if she wants it) and has been a support to me in this Summer of finally coming to terms with being Native. It seems to be being implied that I need to cut my hair (for the umpteenth million time again) but I am going to put it up if they want it that way. I wonder that they do not understand that this is part of who I am. Hopefully I can seed things forward with HR and get a fairer ruling on growing the hair out. It seems a bit discriminatory to me.
Cheers all, be well :)
My best to you, Native Carolinian, please do continue to keep us posted on how things progress...

Thanks all :) Hair is good to grow long, and since I know there is a glass ceiling that I will never break at work, it is time to move on to better prospects. I am giving myself the weekend to round up people to be references, and then on the next day off I have, I am putting in an application for EMS again.
On to bigger and better things for me, time to move on.
Good luck in the job search. I will be joining the job search market myself soon unless an advancement opportunity opens up in the very near future. I have been putting in too many long hours and work for my efforts to go unrewarded any longer.

Best wishes on the job search, hopefully they will focus on ability rather than your hair.... I don't remember if you posted a pic.. please do ... Take Care... The Spaf Man
