Hope everyone has been well and of course continuing to grow out those manes ;)
I have spent this past week out in California just enjoying a nice vacation and catching up with the west coast mlhh'ers :) Yesterday we spent part of the day within San Francisco then ended up of the Pacific coastline. Ken from SF was so kind to take a hair pic of me standing on the Sutro Ruins near the beach.Anyway gonna enjoy my last couple days here before going home. As the saying goes keep it "Growin' and Fliwin' ". Cheers

Beautiful picture, Mârk - as always, you are stylin' -
I'm sure you have having a great time out west with the boys.

Thank you for the kind words Fitz :) I always enjoy my trips out west and
envy those who live in such a beautiful part of the country. Its always so cool
meeting up with the guys when out this way as it adds another dimension to our
relationship on the mlhh. Posting on the board to get to know one another is cool
but ultimately meeting is a thrill! Cheers
Mârk
Great Picture Mârk,
I'm glad you had a nice vacation with the guys...
I've never been to California,(The farthest West I've been was Michigan)...
Keep Growin and Flowin.... The Spaf Man
Hi Spaf Man,
You should make an effort to visit the west coast sometime as you'll realize how amazing it is compared to back east.Don't get me wrong as the east coast has its virtues as well. One major deal breaker being east is the winter months.lol.At least for me.Take care my friend.Cheers.
Mârk
Before you complain about the weather in the east and the snow
I should warn you that we've had winters in the United States where all 50 states had snow. Even Hawaii, California, and Florida. Besides i'd rather have snow than Tornadoes, Hurricanes, etc. Especially after Sandi and Katrina.
Hi Mark,
As usual, you are looking great in this pic! I think it's cool that you can visit the left coast fairly often and catch up with the guys! I must admit I'm jealous! Bet you all had fun around San Fran and visiting the Pacific coast! Thanks a bunch to Ken for capturing you in the splendor of the ruins! Please stay well my friend and have a safe trip home!
Ted
Greetings Ted,
From what I remember you used to live out west so you certainly know what its like being here.It is so,so different from the east coast and I love it!It was great seeing the guys while here even though too short of a vacation.Hope all has been well with you and thank you for the compliment :) Cheers
Mârk
I was out there 40 years ago and what I remember is that the water is ice cold even in summer months!
Looking good Mark, very cool getting meet with the California longhairs.
Bruce
Hi Bruce,
I go out every year but of course not to swim in the cold ocean!LOL.That's fine as I love looking at it and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Also visiting the local mlhhers too is a lot of fun.I will be back! Cheers
Mârk
Awww shucks, Mark! I was just beginning to enjoy looking at the ocean sideways, as that way it sorta looked a bit like a gigantic waterfall (LOL)....
What a nice day at the beach that day, eh? That new Land's End Visitor Center is so drop-dead beautiful that I plan to move in there next week -- never mind the fact that the National Park employees I'm sure will kick me out at closing time. I'll just cry big crocodile tears and play my saddest tune on the violin, I'm sure that will convince them, no? (And never mind the fact that I don't know HOW to play a violin... as the old saying goes, "Don't stop payment on my reality check!" - LOL)
I had such a terrific time with you and Bill & Larry that day, I miss having you out West here already... so, the only logical solution to that is: come back SOON!
- Ken
Hi Ken,
Yes I'm back home in NJ and admit missing Cali the moment the plane took off yesterday morning.I always love my trips out west and meeting with you guys over whatever we decide to do for the day.The Lands End Visitors Center is awesome as I'd have my bedroom right by that big glass window overlooking the Sutro ruins!I agree they did a fabulous job on the center.I did go back the following day,Thursday, to hike the coastal trail as it was nice and sunny and not too windy.Took some great pics of the GG Bridge and video of the ocean:)
As for returning, that is something I'm already thinking of as I type this.California is just so attractive and inviting.Thank you again for spending the day with me and do keep in touch :)Cheers
Mârk
You're looking great. It's amazing how you got the water to stay where it is.
That's San Francisco's lake. We call it "The Pacific Ocean".
When in the ranger's station, the ranger asked us if we had any questions. I asked her if the ocean was heated. Cracked her up!
The waves are often too rough for most swimmers there. While we were there, some waves crashed over the top of off-shore rocks not much smaller than the one with a hole in it that you see. And helicopters hovered overhead as several swimmers were rescued. On the news last night, they said all survived but two were in critical condition.
We climbed over the ruins of an old bathhouse, staying on dry land. Then we went to a fifties-type place for sandwiches while oldies played on the jukebox. It was a really fun day!
Bill
Actually not that crazy a question. Here along the Atlantic ocean water temperatures during the summer can range from
90+ degrees along Florida to the 70s along New York 60s farther north towards Massachusetts. when you have water temperatures in the 90s it feeds an active Hurricane season. (Katrina was so
bad because the water temperatures were well into the 90s.)
Now here on the east coast the water fairly calm. It will get rough when storms pass nearby and can trigger rip currents.
Johnny Rockets?
They have one of those at the Wharf, but Johnny Rockets is a johnny come lately.
Mel's. One of Mel's' drive-ins was featured in the movie "American Graffiti".

Hi LHIA,
Thank you for the vote of confidence but I'm sure the background made the pic! LOL.I'm glad that cold water didn't pour all over me ;) Cheers

Wear flowers in your hair, or not, but do come! There are several MLHHers here, and we always make a point of getting together when someone from MLHH is in town. Not only will you get to meet some of the guys on this forum in person, but San Francisco is a really fun town with lots of things to do. And the weather is almost always good!
Also, for those of you who never get to spend time with other guys who share your longhair identity, it's really affirming to be in a group of others, where you can literally "let your hair down". Do we talk about hair? Not much, really. Being a longhair is mostly not about the hair. But among ourselves we are free to be ourselves, and sharing that experience with others like ourselves can strengthen one's inner self and warm one's soul.
In short, we'll run all over town together, we'll dine together, and we'll laugh a lot! Do put a trip to San Francisco in your plans if you can. We always enjoy meeting other longhairs!
Hope everyone has been well and of course continuing to grow out those manes ;)
Hi Mark - love the pic. - hope you had a great holiday - how you stay so skinny = I'll never know ... hehehe
----------------/-------------------------
Hi CEM,
Well as much as I want my mane to keep growing I'm happy that my midsection doesn't ;) Lol.I consider myself fortunate to stay slim well into my adult years and I do mean "well in"! He he. Cheers

Only a guy like Mark could take THIS sign separating bikes and pedestrians literally!
