First time posting here (Found the board from http://www.choisser.com/longhair/three.html).
Freshman year I had grown out my hair to my shoulders, and had cut it eventually down to a faux hawk for some stupid reason or another. I'm a junior now and am on the rise to returning to having that length. I still had the faux hawk in july but have grown it out since then to the picture you see.

Many of the members here are true inspirations of long hair. Some have been at it for decades, others like yourself are just starting out. We are all on this hair growing journey together.

You have a great advantage: as your hair grows, you will very quickly have a "single length" and you won't have to wait so long for your front bang to catch up with your back and sides as most of us have to do.
You are doing very well. Just keep it up and welcome to the journey to longhairdom!

Welcome, young man - thanks for sharing your photo - best of everything as your follow your goal to grow long hair. It takes a lot of patience and it takes the ability to wait, not make quick decisions and fight the opinions of others who wonder what you are doing... I look forward to future updates as you go along.
I am a lot older - a LOT older than you - and I just started my long hair journey in December 2012 - after many years of wanting to do this - it is my so called mid life crisis - but, considering I will not live to be 112 and since this is not a crisis - I'm doing very well!
