Hey, I really dislike the so-called popularity of the Kardasians and I don't understand why these non-celebrities are celebrated as they are - so bare with me -
Bruce Jenner has been growing his hair long - he actually had the nerve to wear it down minus pony tail and it made entertainment news... I am disgusted at the way the media is portraying him - now that he is split from his ex - Kris Jenner - and could it be that he is going for a sex change? Give me a break. This article annoys me and I just felt like annoying the rest of you along with me...
I wish the former Olympian well - and I hope he finds new peace of mind and freedom now that he is out of that little house of horrors
As someone who detests the Kardasians I couldn't resist posting this.

Remember the only reason we have the Kardasians is because their dad represented OJ.
Hi LHIA,
No offense! But I won't even waste my time reading that article! And believe me, I didn't have any trouble resisting!

If you're a Star Trek fan you'll appreciate the article.
(If you're on Facebook you may have already seen it.
Ahh the society and their ridiculous thoughts, I didn't know that from the moment he wants to change a little bit, the media is already spreading rumors that he wants to change his sex? C'mon, if we follow the media's thoughts, everyone would say that Thomas Anders wanted to do a sex change just because he wore makeup, big hair and lip gloss back in the 80's.
A more positive article on it here:
http://www.celebuzz.com/2014-10-06/breaking-hair-news-bask-in-the-glory-of-bruce-jenners-long-layered-locks/
I read the article (and many other articles) related to Bruce Jenner and the way he is physically changing. I don't think the article meant to say that just because he is growing out his hair he might be considering a sex change. I believe the media believes so (that he could be considering sex change) because of other physical changes shown in public.
And even if he IS going to transition into a woman, what's wrong with that?
While I agree with you that nothing is technically "wrong" with someone deciding they want a sex change operation, the reason there is a media circus surrounding this possibility is due to the fact that the stupid Kardashian show includes Bruce Jenner in it... a high price to pay for all that "fame", isn't it?
I've never watched that damn Kardashian show. I have better things to do with my life -- including picking my nose and flinging a booger at the TV screen, if I should ever be so unlucky as to accidentally change channels and see that show.
My best to Bruce Jenner, however, whatever he decides to do with the rest of his life. He was an awesome athlete in his day, wasn't he? That's how I still prefer to think of him.

He has paid a dear price for fame -
He was an outstanding athelete in his day.
He has awesome hair - always did - still does
I hope it is all hype - media sensationalism - but if he is considering a change - I wish him all the best -
But, living with those women who repeatedly emasculated him on TV would be enough to drive him to make a drastic change in his life - not that I ever watched it ;)
I am not sure if we are all on the same page here.
When I read Fitz's original post I understood that he was "upset" because the media "implied" that Bruce Jenner was considering sex change ONLY because he was growing his hair out.
I don't agree that the media believes he is going through a sex change JUST because he is growing his hair out. I believe the media believes so because of the many physical changes he is undergoing (not just growing hair out).
And even if he IS going through a sex change, I don't see the negative side on that so there is no need to feel upset about it.
Paparazzis work like that. They follow famous people around and get into their private lives. Famous people already know that, they know that every single aspect of their lives will be known publicly so the moment they decide to make a change in their lives, they already know the media is going to become aware of that and therefore, spread the word on TV, magazines, newspapers, online, etc.
I think Bruce Jenner already knows that and he'll be okay.
To sum up, I dont think the media believes he is going to have a sex change because he is growing his hair out. They probably believe that due to other changes they noticed on him.
People need to realize if they want privacy on these things then
get a job as a house painter/gardener/accountant/etc. if you take a job as an actor/singer/athlete/etc. where you're famous the world over you're not going to have any privacy. Look at what they charge to see a football/baseball/hockey/baskeball game. Then look at the athletes who complain that the fans pitch a fit when they don't win. Heck when you take a job as an athlete you know that you're going to have many thousands of fans paying mega bucks to see you play in Yankee statdium. And if you lose the game/commit an error/etc. those fans are going to pitch a fit. If you don't want that scrutiny get a job as a house painter. Same with actors and singers who are also in the public eye. Also look at what they charge for concerts now,
for plays on Broadway and even for movies now. (In many areas it's now more than $10 for a movie.)
I agree with you in every single word you've said.
I do, too. Professional athletes are performers just as much as Hollywood actors are. They are selling their image. When they don't turn out to be particularly bright, the public has a field day with their social blunders. It's surprising that professional sports teams don't hire chaperones for some of their players. They are far too valuable to be in control of their own image, when they just don't have the smarts to do that.
Bill
; It's surprising that professional sports teams don't hire chaperones for some of their players.
And some of these athletes not only need a chaperone they also need day to day guidance. Too many of these athletes make millions of dollars a year when they are in their 20s, but are flat broke by the time they reach 45. All those millions of dollars went into their arms or up their nose. (Read: Derek Sanderson). Very few of them invest that money wisely. And very few of them catch on to how crooked their agent is.
As an addendum I would post this biography of Bobby Orr.
This the classic case of being screwed by you agent.
Bobby Orr signed with the Chicago Blackhawks towards the end of his career even though the Boston Bruins offered him alot of money and part ownership of the team. It turned out that the his agent never gave Bobby Orr the second page of the contact with the ownership offer. (Alan Eagleson was his agent who later would go to jail.)
The bottom line here is athletes need to have a good education and be able to advocate for themselves, understand how much money they have, how much money they make and what their agent is doing.
Too many athletes make millions of dollars, have a good bit stolen by crooked agents, then are flat broke in later years.
I know some individuals who are undergoing the change process.
It's a very difficult situation to be in, and something like 67% of them end up trying to commit suicide. And many of them end up
being thrown out of the house by relatives/parents/etc. And then there are issues related to work. In the US of A there are a number of states where you can be fired if an employer even thinks you're gay. And it's much worse for those considering a sex change.
They're basically trapped in the wrong body and there is a lot of misunderstanding surrounding the whole situation. Even though I detest the Kardashians I have alot of sympathy for what
Bruce Jenner is going through, i've seen some friends go though it in recent years.
Those are very sad statistics you gave us!
I believe the environment of the person who is transitioning has a lot to do too.
In Argentina (as well as many other countries such as Brazil ) being a transsexual is the most common thing. In the case of those transsexuals who decide to work in the prostitution , they even make a lot more money and they have a lot more clients that those prostitutes who were born female (at least that is the scenario HERE)which makes you realize that "straight" men here LOVE trans people.
Also, the law system makes things easier for those who decide to have a sex change. Our law allows any person over 18 years old to change his/her name and gender by following a simple paper work ( no need of judges or psychiatrists . In the case of those who are under 18 , they can also do it with their parents approval. If parents don't agree, ONLY in that case, a judge will make a decision on whether or not the minor can change his/her name and gender). Moreover, the government pays for the sex reassignment surgery of those who want to get a sex change (you, as an individual, don't have to pay not even 5 cents!).
In an environment where being a transexual is ok and you won't be discriminated, I believe those suicide rates you talk about don't really exist.
Then you haven't talked to those involved in the process.
In the US of A there is alot misunderstanding of the issue.
http://articles.latimes.com/2014/jan/28/local/la-me-ln-suicide-attempts-alarming-transgender-20140127
(Now bear in mind this figure is probably much lower than the actual rate: many suicides among transgenders are probably not included in these figures.)
Only when you talk to some trans-gender folks do you really
comprehend how really bad the picture really is.
And a number of trans gender folks will complain about how
mis-treated they are even inside the LGBT community.
I think you didn't get my point.
Like I originally said (and let me highlight):
IN AN ENVIRONMENT where being a transexual is ok and you won't be discriminated, I believe those suicide rates you talk about don't really exist.
In my country being trans is ok and they do have the ways to achieve their goal, transition, work and live like other people. So, in an environment where you have legal protection and support, those rates are a lot lower or don't even exist. That is what I meant. Probably in the USA being trans is still a taboo and those statistics are real ( I never said your statistics were not real). I only said that suicide rates among trans people will also depend on whether or not they live in an environment/place/country/community where they are accepted.
Very true. Even here in the U.S., attitudes vary wildly and widely on such issues, including "men having long hair". The South is very backwards compared to the rest of the country. Now, I'm not saying all Southerners are by any means, but a larger number of people there have such attitudes, and this occurs enough for the laws to be less protective. Just the other day, I posted a map here about prisons cutting hair off of inmates against their will, and all states but one were in the South. Gay marriage in the U.S. is regarded differently in some states than in others, and those opposed to it are mostly in the South. I know people who have moved to the South for a job, and the first thing their new co-workers would ask them is, "Where do you go to church?" That question wouldn't be asked here in San Francisco for a month or more, if ever.
Americans like to say "It's a free country," but in many ways it's just average, at best. You can criticize the president all you want, but if your idea of "free speech" is to post dirty pictures, look out! And especially so in the South.
The State of Texas has erected signs near the Mexican border warning Texans that they can't drive into Mexico with guns in their cars. You can get 20 years in the pen for that in Mexico, while to a Texan it's a God-given right. Well, both Texan and Mexican societies are very vibrant, and for their people they mostly work. God just hasn't said which things are "God-given". (Although some religious fanatics may think so.)
The reality is that the world is very diverse. Even in one country it can be very diverse as you travel. One of the greatest ills of immigration laws is that they trap people in places that they don't belong in, while in other areas they could be very accepted and live a very happy and productive life. For many people their identity is really not a matter of choice. This is a situation that transgender people and many longhaired men share.
Early in MLHH's history we realized we could not be supportive of "men who wanted to look like women" and also in the same place of youth who have been abused incessantly with "You look like a girl" taunts, one of the most common slurs used against us. Too many men were coming here needing support with their assertion that "I do NOT look like a girl!" and we had to choose them as our priority. For some trans people, growing long hair is felt to be supportive of their desire to look more feminine, so that's definitely at odds with what people come here for. So most of them would not see us as a good fit with them, either. Nevertheless, the issues they face the outside world with are very much the same as ours are, and my feeling is that we owe them our greatest empathy and support.
I'd add that I speak of MTF transgenders here. FTMs would fit here, because they usually want to look male. However, very few of them want to have long hair, so we seldom see them at our doorstep.
Bill
it should be noted though that for all the religious folks in the "Bible belt" it is those states in the bible belt that are the most prolific viewers of pornography.
Also in the bible belt they'll slam Gay Marriage as destroying the sanctity of marriage when in reality the biggest thing that is destroying marriage is divorce.
