Thanks Teddy - he certainly brightened my day: ( red & green ) - he's called 'A King Parrot' - they are quite rare here, he was in his western most range that day, due to a cyclone on the coast - they are common on the coast = my farm is 86. kms. inland - very rarely do they venture this far west, away from the coast ... he was a real treat = my 2nd only viewing of this species here at the farm in 48. yrs. + to have such a close encounter of the 6th kind was very special indeed ...
Hi CEM,
Thanks for the info on him! He certainly is a beautiful sight and I'm glad you were able to see him! Must be nice to see birds like this in their natural habitat. You are quite fortunate!
Ted

Hi CEM,
That bird is beautiful and can't get over how huge it appears to be.I could really appreciate the size of it in that far away shot. What kind of bird is that? Cheers

One thing I would add to this is my uncle who died in his 90s a couple of years ago hand raised exotic birds. Some of these birds will live for more than 75 years. And yeah some of them can be very noisy. A number of times he'd go to the local airport to pick up exotic birds that were sent to him from far away.
He would hand feed them, prepare all their food by hand himself.
People would come to his house and hear barking. It was the bird even though he had dogs.

oh yes indeed 'LHIA' ... 'Sulphur-Crested' Cockatoo's: ( another Aussie bird ) can & have lived to an unbelievable 120. yrs. old ...
What a fine-feathered friend you have there, CEM., he's a real cutie!!
OMG, do birds in the wild just follow you home in Australia? I'd like to train the North American birds to do that, too! (Although I do happen to have cats at home, which are known to eat birds; so maybe not such a good idea after all....)
Thanks for sharing your colorful post here!
