Hope this question isn't too stupid, but, what do you do
about your sideburns?
Do you just let them grow or trim them?
I have been growing my hair out for about 5-6 months and
the sideburns are really driving me crazy.
Thanks
Tim
I had them for a while, and I thought they were pretty cool. But my friend said to me "You're not elvis, shave them off" I respect her opinion and so I did, and I like a lot better without them.
I say shave them off. They're not really part of your head hair anyway, just upper beard area. I wish I could grow a decent goatee, but that's a total other subject, right?
I don't like them so I shave them off.
I had side burns from 8th grade until my junior year, and loved them (grew a full beard junior year). I usually kept mine trimmed, and ended them slightly below the bottom of my earlobe. I think sideburns, especially if they're a little longer, look really cool with long hair.
Shave them off to the top of your ear.
...mine are very thin like wisps of hair so
I shave uP to them and trim the longest hairs
i have burns down just past my earlobes...i am not an elvis fan either. they aren't the wispy kind, i can grow them, i like them , so i have them. i DO keep them trimmed though...not really into the bushy ones.

I use clippers and keep mine trimmed neatly. I don't like the look of long, flyaway hairs on sideburns. Especially mine, since they are sort of long. I keep them to the bottom of my ear lobe.
I have tried with and without sideburns over the past few years. It seems to me that as my hair grows, it is a much better look WITH the sideburns. Mine are even with the end of my ear lobes.
Many here have said they keep the burns down to the lobe.
Wonder why? Habit or looks?
Saw this guy who whad curly hair to a little below his collar, and side burns down to his jaw and forming a sort of fringe beyond. And he was just around 22, and it looked rather strange on him. (That's just my perception, others may have found it OK)
I must have native american indian blood running through me. I can't grow thick facial hair at all. I can grow a decent mustache, but anywhere else on my face is real patchy and no sideburn hair to speak of at all.
Treyn, it's interesting that you brought that up, I was going to start a thread about that. I have a pretty thick beard except for this one spot on my right cheek, where it apparently doesn't grow at all. I'm 21 now, and have been shaving since I was 13. I always thought it was something that would come out later.
I used to work with a guy who had that same exact problem with his beard. On one cheek he had a "bald spot" if you will. I thought maybe he had some kind of burn or something, but now I see it's obviously not too incredibly unusual. Like I said about myself, there is nothing thick about any of my facial hair. I can't even grow a complete whole goatee that connects all the way around. I think my dad had some indian in his blood line anyway, so that may explain it. But thank God that what I don't have on my face I sure make up for on my head. Very Thick!
I like the look with long hair. Have since high school (about 20 years ago). Didn't start growing long hair or sideburns until about 15 months ago.
My sideburns are down to my jawbone, and are straight, unlike the 'Elvis' look. I've also grown a fu-manchu moustache. Overall, I like the appearance, although I'd still like my hair to be a bit longer, to about the bottom of my shoulder blades.
