7" Aluminum Gutter Nails (US$6 for 10 at Ace Hardware)
....you would think "Trolleypup" would be using Railroad Spikes !!
Heh! Too heavy!
OMG, that nail looks scary to me -- not that a wooden stick with a pointy end should be all that much "safer" (I have one, bought it at an arts & crafts fair up in Oregon when I was visiting one of my brothers some years ago, I forget to wear it though); but still... a 7" nail?
I'm all in favor of simplicity (in design), don't like to wear things in my hair that look very ornate or feminine; but a 7" nail in my head is just a bit TOO manly for me (LOL)!
Thanks for introducing me to this original idea, though. The next time I'm installing a gutter up on someone's roof, if I'm out of my usual hair-ties, I'll have to remember to just grab one of those nails!

I some hairsticks at an art show that were basically imperfect, non-round, handmade iron nails(the booth had a lot of different things that incorporated iron nails). They were a dark color.
I've never tried that. I guess the first question i'd have to ask is how does hold the hair up? I tried doing something like that but I couldn't get it to work. What am I doing wrong?
They work fine for me...but then they are almost exactly the size shape and weigh of my usual 7" stainless steel chopsticks.
Different hair requires different buns and different securement.
My usual lazy bun requires both length and weight since it is self secured by the weight securing the final wrap. The stick is only a scaffold, not a securement. Many buns use the sticks to secure the bun after it is formed.
