Hey, guys, it's Lucian. So, I tried a new shampoo the other day (Coconut Milk by Organix) and it was, to make an understatement, a disaster. Hunks of my hair actually fell out, and the rest of it is changed. Whereas usually it's wavy and soft, now it feels brittle and dry and it breaks easily (I've included an after shot so you can see).
So my question is this: what can I use to restore my hair's natural strength and texture? What do you use? I'm particularly interested in hearing from young men with long hair, as I am young and my hair would be closer to theirs in texture.
Never underestimate the hard-earned knowledge and experience of an old man. You are forgetting the fact that we were young once (including our hair was young) -- whereas you have not yet experienced the "joys" of old age.... My advice: become more open-minded.

Stop using that shampoo, as you already know. Wash your hair with a good shampoo made for dry hair. Use a good conditioner for dry hair. See if this helps.
My guess is that your new shampoo is on the stripping/clarifying end of the shampoo spectrum and it removed a bunch of silicone-ish coating on your hair that was masking damage.
If you're looking for help, best to ask people with similar hairtypes...I'm guessing fine-ish.
See if oils or a 'cone-y conditioner helps.
Texture varies more from person to person, than with age.
Even though you're young, with hair your length you already know a thing or two about how to care for it.
I would stop using any shampoo for a while and just do conditioner only washes. Use the conditioner that you were using prior...it will help your hair return to its former state.
Honestly, I can't tell the difference in that picture from others you've posted. But the owner of the hair can always tell slight changes in their own hair, while others may not notice anything. Your hair "looks" the same, even though it doesn't "feel" the same.
Good luck.
