Most of the time I'm really careful when brushing or combing my hair. I use a wide tooth comb and get the tangles out carefully then I brush through it carefully trying not to break any hairs. But sometimes, like tonight, I'll just grab my brush and rip right through it,breaking and ripping hairs in the process. Then I am so mad at myself for doing it I can't stand it. I don't know why I do it,I don't know if I'm just not thinking or what. Do any of you ever do this? This sounds weird I know, but I have no idea why I do it. I guess the devil made me do it :-)
They say around here to run your fingers through your hair to loosen it up and get out tangles, especially first thing in the morning. But I have a bad habit of taking a brush and running it through my hair and I can feel pulling and hear breaking sounds. But I finish regardless. I figure my hair is so thick it won't make much difference anyway. Am I wrong about this? Anyway, I know what you mean. I am quiet impulsive myself.
Glad to hear I'm not alone.

Is this something you do out of anger? People who suffer from depression often do things that are damaging to themselves, like banging their head against the wall, cutting themselves, or (God Forbid!) HARMING THEIR HAIR!!!!
Seriously, consider your feelings in this. You might do well to talk to someone.

No, it's not out of anger or anything like that. I don't even realize what I'm doing until I'm already doing it or have already done it. For some reason I just forget I need to be careful brushing. I had short hair for so long and just brushed it without being careful or taking any special care of it,I guess it's just kind of out of habit I guess.
That's good to hear. Now you know what you gotta do. You gotta drop that bad habit like, er, a bad habit.
The Rev
ps. Here's an idea. Throw out your old combs and brushes and get new, different ones. This way, when you go to brush, you will be reminded by different stuff to treat your hair differently.
Good idea. It's about time for a new brush anyway.
