Hey, at my age, "progress pix" once a year is often enough!
Bill
And then there's the forgetfulness, like not including the picture!
Duh,
...from this angle, your candles almost look like "88" !!
Happy Birthday Bill
Walter
Larry and I had a lot of laughs over the candles, and it's fun to see you guys are, too!
As the older guys know, sometime around middle age you can't just put your age in candles on a cake. Putting aside the usual jokes about calling the fire department, you just can't light that many candles without using a blowtorch. Lighting them individually with matches, the earliest-lit candles will have mostly burned down by the time you light the last ones, and the heat from the first forty or so that are burning will make it too hot to get your hand near the ones yet unlit, anyway.
So you get candles shaped like numbers. When Larry took them out of the grocery bag, to rib me he held them up so they said "86". I reacted by telling him I was not about to let myself be 86'd anytime soon! Then when he lit the candles and set the cake down, he had the numbers facing me, so I'd read the proper age, "68", but the wax from the burning "6" soon ran down and made the "6" look like an 8"! So now I was not 86, but 88!
I'm glad you are talking about the candles. Heaven forbid, you'd otherwise be talking about my hair! To paraphrase the old folk song, "The old gray hair, she ain't what she used to be." But born-longhair that I am, like Long Hair in Albany, I will never cut my hair!
As a man gets older, he gets less hair. I've been subject to that, of course, but besides hereditary-induced causes like aging or MPB, there is a second reason, "doctor induced hair loss", about which I have a tale to tell that will surely interest others. I'll post about that sometime in another thread.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Bill!

Hi Bill, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!
Have to say that's a fine hair update pic and I too was going to comment about the number on your cake but others beat me to it! Ha ha.What kind of cake was that anyway? Have to say "was" because I'm sure none was left for the next day;)Anyway hope you did something fun for the occasion with Larry.Birthday Cheers!

Hi Bill,
Happy birthday! You are looking wonderful my friend! Please enjoy!
Ted
Hey Bill,
Happy Birthday!
Thanks for all you have done for us guys who are longhaired.
Keep it growing and flowing.
You are in my prayers today.
God bless you.
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
Whoa! That looks a bit dangerous there Bill. :)
Yeah, that was definitely on my mind! I sat a bit further back than I would have done without all the hair.
My hair strands are fine, and each has its own mind, so my mane and beard are very fluffy. When the wicked witch in the Wizard of Oz threw fireballs at the scarecrow? Yeah, I can relate.
One event I realized I'd best avoid years ago was "candlelight marches"!
Bill
From just looking at your picture...I'm guessing your age as 87...
Happy B-day, Bill!
Yes, "progress pix" (or even saying, "Onward & Downward") don't apply much to us anymore -- we can say, "Onward & Onward" maybe, or post yet another terminal length pic of our hair... from a different angle maybe... or with different scenery in the background... or with different colored clothes or bandanas on (LOL).... But ankle-length hair is unfortunately not in our future (unless we bend forward and tilt our head a lot - LOL)!
Regardless, glad to hear at least that you have NOT turned suddenly 86!
... and may you have a happy & healthy (and hairy!) 68 more years, too!!
- Ken
PS - Nice job on the cake (as well as pic), Larry!
Happy Birthday, Bill! Looking great!
Huge hugs.
