Hello fellow longhaired compadres ! I have really been enjoying my transition from a shaved head to a long hair lover, and have a question for all :) What products, if any, would you suggest for taming hair that tends to feather out on the sides? The hair on the left side of my head tends to feather out alot which gives me a "BeeGee" like appearance..lol. I will attach a pic for reference. Thanks !
I would just let it grow, the added weight of the hair may straigten those hairs out.
This is the way I was in April 2014 at 7 months:
Even when playing the organ! All those "feather" hairs are now down to my jawbone, and a lot straighter, just with a curl or two at the ends. You can probably use gunk, but I don't. I was prepared for the awkward stage, and it has been a lot less humiliating than I feared. Live through it and you will soon be at a couple of years, when you'll be able to reminisce and tell the youngsters about it on this board.
Keep it growing and enjoy the journey, and don't be a perfectionist. That will come later.

I agree with Anthony that its best to just leave awkward stage hair alone and let nature take its course.Awkward stage can actually be kinda fun being you get to see how your hair behaves at shorter lengths but also knowing one day you will achieve bonafide longhair:)Patience is a virtue my friend.Cheers

At this length I believe there isn't much you can do about them. Of course, you can always use gel to keep them in place but other than that I don't think there are products you can try for taming because those hairs feather out because they are too short, not because they need to ba tamed like when you have long frizzy hair, for instance.
You have a lot of texture to your hair. Plus, you currently have layers. Layers help to bring out texture (waves, curls) in hair.
Growing it longer will help "weigh" it down. Also, fewer layers would help.
Your hair is still pretty short. Just give it time. In the mean time, use a little hair spray, etc., to help. It probably looks worse to you than others.
Thank you for the advice guys :) I will definitely just wait it out.
It's funny that some people go to great lengths to get hair feathering and others want to get rid of it. Actually, I don't think you look so bad. As an experiment, you should try deliberately feathering both sides in an interesting way and go for it for a day. If the overwhelming desire to sing Stayin' Alive is too much for you, do something different tomorrow. Otherwise: hair gel, headbands, hats, bandanas, barrettes, bobbie pins, Batman hood.
