How are you guys doing?
I just I would just share with you the great news, and that is that I recently moved out of my parents' house and I am currently living alone in the downtown area of my city (Buenos Aires).
That was one of the goals for this year and I feel happy about it because it hasn't been even 2 weeks since we start this 2015 and I already achieved this goal!
I have a great relationship with my parents. However, I am turning 27 this year and I was sleeping in the same bedroom that I have been sleeping since I was 3 and I needed to change that.
In average, in Argentina, people leave their parents' house at 25 or 30 ( yeah, its not easy due to economical reasons, inflation and we are a very passionate society that priorizes the family and parents can be overprotective and prefer their kids to remain home for the rest of their lives instead of leaving them go and do their own life)
I have just spent my first night alone in my apartment and it was awesome. Today I take my day off work so I am planning on going to buy some groceries that I need and walking around the neighbourhood.
Just for you to have an idea, this is where I live:
I live literally two blocks from the Obelisco (the Obelisk of Buenos Aires -that white fallic tower you see in the picture). The area is full of restaurants, theatres, bars, nightlife, etc ( It's probably something similar to the Times Square area in NYC ). It is also super close to the main touristic attractions, etc.
Even though this is totally off topic I thought I would share this with you since I believe it is okay to off-topic a bit and talk about our personal lives from time to time and take a break from the hair talk haha.
I hope you all are having a nice week!
Thanks You Sharing that....
Looks like a great and fun place to live.
Best of luck to you in 2015
Walter
Congratulations, Dave, on getting your own place!
And if a man is going to live in a city, he might as well make it a world class city, one that has just about everything, and it's clear you have. Congratulations on that, too!
This will accelerate your progress on that all-important project that all young adults have: getting to know yourself. Enjoy the journey!
Don't worry about that. Back when I was a moderator, we dealt with that issue, and it's clearly spelled out in your favor in item 19 of the General FAQ. Now that you're a moderator, I suppose you'll want to find time amid all the more exciting things going on in your life to read that. [grin]
Unlike with most of North America, the California coast has been having great weather, with sunny winter days having high temperatures around 65° (18°C). I'll likely get out and hike around the city here, with thoughts of getting about five miles (8 km) in today. This weather is supposed to hold all week, so "having a nice week" is in my plans!

Congrats, Dave. It feels great to finally have your own place and, boy, you sure waited for it. I first moved out when I was 21 and I thought that was way too late. Come to think of it the first thing on my mind at that time was growing long hair, since I really wanted it and my dad would not let me grow it out at home. My hair scarcely saw any scissors for the next decade.
I was 33 when I moved out of parents house and in with my wife whom I was engaged to.
Congratulations on meeting your goal.
Congratulations on achieving your goal!! I wish you luck with
your new life. The only drawback is now you may have less money
for traveling the world.

Wow - good on you - I relate fully: ( as I moved out of home at 16 ) - I love being independent, self-reliant & capable - as freedom is the side-effect - & freedom is paramount - congratulations Dave - cheers CEM.
that is sooooo cool !
Congratulations! It's like a whole new world, isn't it? I remember moving out of my parents' house for the first time when I was 18. At the time I wanted to get as far away as possible so I ended up on the other side of the planet. What a shock (and exhilarating experience) that was!
Hi Dave,
First off that's an awesome picture of what you'll get to see everyday out of your new apartment window:)I'm not sure what apartments cost in your city but that view is spectacular and having access to all that you mentioned is certainly a plus!I could tell, after meeting you, that your certainly a city boy :)You were very into NYC while out on your last vacation was my view.As for going off topic that's not a problem since we are a community and do like to know more about our friends who frequent the board.Sure we are a hair board but there is more to the real world than that.A BIG congratulations on your new life out on your own my friend :) Cheers

Hi Dave,
There's nothing quite like having your own place -- especially exciting when it's your first apartment on your own, out of your parent's house! Even when adult children get along well with their parents, there comes a day in one's life when it just feels like, "it's time to cut loose!" It's a very significant moment in each man's personal history, an event you will remember fondly and cherish forever.
And one more thing: that is one AWESOME view of Buenos Aires!!!!!!!
Enjoy your new home to the fullest, Dave -- and remember, as the old saying goes: "Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home!"
