Raul's 16 month update video
Nice update, Raul! And I totally agree with you: I can definitely see a difference, your hair had unquestionably grown a significant amount -- you DO look more and more like a full-on longhair!
It's a fun process, isn't it? After my devastating Y2K short haircut in June of 2000, I remember it being after the one-year mark that I started to finally feel more at peace that my hair was indeed growing back to long again... It's an amazing transformation to go through. This may sound a bit corny, but: to me, it actually feels like one of life's understated "miracles" to watch hair grow back to its own natural longer length.
I'm grateful every single day -- and I know you probably are, too!!
- Ken
Heya Ken!
So you managed to watch it all the way through without nodding off as usual? Did I really manage to capture your infamously short attention span with this video?! I feel BLESSED! And PROUD! Haha!
All kidding aside, I completely agree with you.. watching and experiencing one's hair grow long form scratch IS a small and underrated miracle of life, and it symbolizes both circularity, wholeness and rebirth in my eyes. No other experience quite like it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment, brother! Thanks for all the years of inspiration! It all started right here at the MLHH :)
Haha, Raul, I laughed out loud over your 'not balding' comment. In fact my son in the other room asked my wife if daddy is being silly! In all seriousness, it brings a smile to my face to witness another hair obsessive have success and obvious joy in the growing process. There's really nothing like it and I enjoy being able to vicariously come along with you on your journey.
I've been there, enjoyed every moment, and sometimes miss the newness of the changing looks from month to month. Even now I'm ruminating over what I might possibly do that's new. I have a plethora of braided styles I'd love to try after the recent Hobbit inspiration. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to an expert and willing braider but I'll keep myself open to meeting one.
You've definitely got a great look going there with the hair nicely staying behind your ears and then the tail in the back. It does give an initial appearance of being all one length.
I just shaved my beard and now have a goatee. I needed some kind of change. I don't see myself ever having a long beard but wish you success with yours.
Every month from this point on is just going to bring amazing new looks for you! Imagine your hair in two more years!!!
Jason,
Thank you for ALWAYS filling my heart with good, positive energi, optimistic thoughts and hope, you are one of a kind, and a true long hair inspiration, one I hope to be able to reflect on others in the future :)
Hair does feel as if it has reached a point where it will actually start growing downwards from now on, and the awkward stage just might be closer to being over... I am sure that by my 24 month mark I will be completely out of the awkward stage, and well into a (rather minimal) longhair state :)
Thank you again brother!
PS- no matter what Amanda or Rowan say, a YEARD is something every man should experience at least once in his life! It's truly soul altering, just like the long hair jounrey.
Thanks, man, and I knew right away that you were a kindred spirit and you've become a great friend.
What's a yeard? I'm guessing a type of beard.
Dude, I think it's high time you get a new avatar photo here!
Thank you, Jason! I felt the same way about you, and I guess in a sence it takes one to know one :)
A yeard is of course the year long beard! quite a monumental achievement, and something I will definitely make happen at least once in my lifetime!
The avatar picture is kind of nice I think, as it is a stark contrast to my look now, and a good reminder why I should take REALLY good care of the hair I've got right now ;)
Hi Raul,
I must say you are looking very cool here! Great total look you have man! Tommorrow at dialysis I will check out your video. I always enjoy your videos! Take care and thanks for the nice update!
Ted
Thanks Teddy!
Hope you have a pleasant dialysis and enjoy my video as well! Thanks for the inspiration throughout the years, long hair and life in general! =)
We have the same "long hair age". Mine was very short in September 2013, but yours must have been shorter. Have you been trimming?
You're doing really well and you are not far from the end of the awkward stage. I can see a bit of side hair tucked behind your ears because it's still too short to get to the ponytail. We are both very close.
Before you know it, we'll both be at the two-year mark and having to be concerned about split ends and "search-and-destroy" trimming! Keep it growing...
My blog
That we do, September 2013 hair brother! :)
If you look through my other videos on my YouTube channel, you will see my head was at a complete zero, shaven, back on September 17th, 2013, so it was proabably as short as it could be.
I have been trimming only the back of the head for the first 8 months, that is why that hair is around 4.5 inches, while the rest of it is around 6 inches.
At this point, the only thing I am measuring is the front, or bangs, and they are at just about 6 inches, a bit under my lip as the video shows.
Two year mark will be grand, Anthony! Been there only once beforem, and it will be one sweet moment!
Hi Raul - lookin' good bud - gr8. photo & video - love ya beard: ( I've had a beard for 20. years myself & I would never shave it off ) & my beard name suggestion for you is 'Sven': ( very Viking - I think ) - you prove how versatile long hair can be as you play with all the different looks & you carry them all off so well - keep on having fun & inspiring Cheers CEM. ~:0)~
Thank you, CEM! :)
