This past weekend I went to a science fiction convention and got to wear my kilt. It was amazingly comfortable and I loved wearing it with my long hair. The kilt and the long hair go together really well. I only whore it on Sunday, I wore shorts on Thursday and Monday for load in and load out to avoid any damage to the kilt.
And being staff alot of the time I was wearing the kilt I was doing alot of my staff work.
At some point I need to get a shirt and shoes or boots to wear with it. This weekend I didn't have a shirt to wear so i ended up wearing the staff shirt that convention staff gets. For shoes I was wearing my work boots.
All in all it was a good weekend with lots of other guys with long hair and wearing kilts.
There were several down points at the convention, I was in a panel on Saturday when I learned on Facebook that the outing club lodge in the White Mountains of New Hampshire burnt to the ground. No injuries, the only thing that survived was the outhouse and the memories of the many hundreds of times I went up there. And then on Sunday I learned that a friend i've known for years died.
...
I'm sorry about your friend and the lodge. At least you have some good memories?
Out of curiosity, what kind of kilt do you have? I've always been interested in getting one especially as my hair grows out but I never know where to look or what kind to get.
Thank you. We have close to 50 years of memories.
Mine is a utilikilt. If you search on the web there are many kinds available. Utilikilt visits a number of conventions, etc. where you can look at them, try them on, and buy them.
You don't know how great they are until you try one. I should have done it many years ago.
Raedwulf,
You can go to www.sportkilt.com and see what's available with utility kilts.
Long Hair, I am sorry for your loss.
white mane
I just bought a kilt from www.kiltbros.com
they are a great couple guys starting up a business out of Cleveland. They sell everyday kilts - not the fancy ones - as LHIA calls them utility kilts. I thought they were reasonably priced. about $95. If you have any questions bout it, feel free to email me. I am not part of the company - just a happy customer. I look forward to wearing mine come warmer weather.
It's the name of the company.

Great that you could do your own thing for a special occasion.
On Monday I went to our local council meeting. I am the only Councillor with enough haur to do it, and one of only two of our electors who can do it, so I marked the occasion by doing a Golden Globe Jared act and wearing a braid, the first time I have done so to a public event. It was a good one, very neat and even, and I had a lot of comments, including one from a a girl I know with waist length hair qho said she found it very hard to braid her own hair and congratulated me on how well I had done.
So, let's celebrate being ourselves!
I am glad you had a great weekend wearing your kilt. I am a new kilt owner as well and look forward to an event when I can wear mine.
I am sorry for the loss of your lodge and for the death of your friend. It never gets easier, it seems.
It is sad to hear about your losses.
As a practical question don't you live in a cold snowy location?
Wouldn't a kilt make it very chilly in the lower regions?
Thank you.
I do live in the frozen north, when I was wearing the kilt it was at a convention in a hotel, a hotel that is very warm and very dry.
I did walk around outside for a while, it was close to 50 degrees and no snow.
