I would be interested to know what guys here do with their hair when they go to bed. I am now at 16 months and only a few months shy of the end of my awkward stage. Up to now, it has been sufficient to sweep the hair towards the back of my head so it doesn't get all messed up under my head. (I sleep on my side and turn over several times in the night.)
I could see what happens when I do my ponytail and go to sleep like that. What have you found at a similar stage to mine and with longer hair?

Do not sleep with your in a ponytail. It will cause damage and breakage over time. A loose braid is fine, but not a ponytail.
I use a satin pillowcase, which I highly recommend. It helps prevent damage and tangles while sleeping.
I personally sleep with my hair loose. I carefully place all of my hair above my head when I lay down. I have to adjust accordingly throughout the night.
Just try some various things and see what works best for you.
When I sleep I sleep on my side, I just have my hair loose and
parallel to my chest. When I wake up no tangles.
I do nothing with my hair, lie down, close my eyes and sleep.
When I had belt lenght hair I slept with a ponytail.
Good luck!
I sleep on my side with my hair loose behind me. I use a satin pillow case which helps minimise hair breakage.

Hi there Anthony.
I'm at 23 months and I know what you're talking about sleeping problems with hair, since I can't sleep with my belly up and I only sleep turning to left or right, my hair gets on my face everytime I turn to a different side when sleeping and when I wake up, it's a very mess.
Since I could tie my hair, it's now more easy to sleep and doesn't get in my face and doesn't do a lot of tangles when I release and comb it.
so far I am at 9 years I just take my hair place it in a ponytail and don't worry about it until I get up the next morning it will be messed up brush it out go to work.
One thing I found to do is to use silk or satin pillowcases. It works really well and my hair is not near as messy or tangled as with regular pillow cases. I hope this helps! You have great hair!!!
The most important thing is to make sure it doesn't tickle my husband's nose. My husband told me that.

I know the feeling when my wife and I are lying "spoons" (one with his/her back to the front of the other) rather than "sugar tongs" (front to front). She has just above shoulder length and very frizzy hair, and I often get a mouthful or nose-full. It's nice to return her the same courtesy with my hair which is not frizzy - but much longer!
