Hey, everybody. Really don't know where to begin, other than to say I've been out of pocket since last April when my wife and I were hit head-on in a car wreck that could have taken our lives. We were out shopping for our remodel project for our house when we stopped at a red light. In the left turn lane waiting for the light to change, I noticed a car from the opposing side of the street run the light, come through the intersection and head straight for us. I had time to say, "Oh, God," and it was over.
To make a long story a lot shorter, I ended up with a crushed left ankle. My wife was bumped and bruised badly, but not hurt as bad as I was, thank God.
I had emergency surgery that night and then, about a month later, another surgery where the doctor had to go in and fuse the ankle. I was in a wheelchair for four months before my physical therapy started. After seven (7) months of PT, where I was taken from the wheelchair, to using a walker, to using a cane and finally to walking freely and unsupported like everyone else, I can stand here and thank God for saving our lives. I give all the credit to Him and dedicate the rest of my life to His service. Totally grateful to even be alive. I may have a limp now--who cares? I'm here!
Man, OKC dude.... that is truly an awe inspiring story that really brings to mind just how short and fragile life is, and how it all can end before we even realize what's going on.
Glad to hear you made it somewhat okay, and that you and your wife were not hurt in a more permanent, serious manner.
How long before you will be able to walk completely natural and limp free?
Don't really know. It's going to be a pretty good stretch of time and a lot of exercise.

Hi 'OKC' - I'm sorry to hear re: your horrific accident - there is no rhyme or reason oft. to life misfortunes: ( terrible things happen to good people & good things happen to bad/evil people - it seems ) ... but Gods plan is beyond our scope of vision & understanding at times, which is where faith comes in - the lone footprints in the sand are not yours - they are His - picking you up & carrying you when you stumble & fall - many blessings to you CEM.
Hi Steve,
It is great to see you posting again, and welcome back to the hyoerboard.
Of course, I am sorry, and horrified, to hear about your accident, and all that you have gone through in the past year. I am delighted, though, that the healing process has gone well, and you can count on my thoughts and prayers for a full recovery.
Take care,
David
Thank God it was only an ankle. It could have been a vital organ or a major neurological injury. It takes time to heel but you'll be fine. I was also involved in a major car accident when I was stopped in a traffic jam on a major highway and another car rear-ended mine at 50 mph....I've been having back problems ever since....but will always thank the Lord (and the first responders) that it was not worse than that...
BTW, your hair looks great!
A.D.
Sorry to read the news but glad to know you are here and made it through so far. Thank you for letting us know what happened to you and for giving the glory to God for your life. Life is short and sometimes changes in big ways very quickly. If we could all count life joyful instead of struggling over unnecessary stresses, we would be a lot further ahead.
So glad to see your post, but of course horrified at the content.
You and your wife seem to be in "Good Hands" and I add my prayers to yours.
Keep Well my Friend
Walter
So sorry to hear about this horrible car crash; but I'm so grateful to hear that you & your wife survived, recovered so well, and had such good care to get you back to normal and healthy!
Amazing, isn't it, what we can go through and bounce back from? I am grateful everyday for the little miracles of Life, I want to never take any of it for granted!
Welcome back!
- Ken
Welcome back! I wish you and your wife a full and successful recovery.

Glad you are still with us.

I am praying for your complete healing. I know that total healing is not always God's will, but I pray that in your case it is. At least your hair is doing great right now. It is so thick and full.
