Here's a video of a young guy named Telii with below waist length hair having his hair brushed and done up into some sort of samari-looking style by his grandmother. I think he's Native American, but not sure.
Telii's long hair
That is an interesting video and an interesting hair style. I'll have to try that some time. I wonder how you'd do it without damaging the hair.
I'm so glad they didn't make him cut such beautiful hair.
Thank you Marco for posting that video - this illustrates & highlights beautifully several important points about long hair & life... 1.) that no-one can love you like a grandmother can: ( she wanted her grandson & his hair to be as beautiful & as well protected as was humanly possible ) - her acceptance & love for her grandson, his hair & its length was full, unequivocal & unconditional ) - so as to send him out into the world looking his absolute best ... 2.) there really is no substitute, when it comes to a significant other: ( be it your spouse, partner, mother, grandmother ) whom stands behind & assists & helps one with any array of different styles - where the sole intent is love & nurturing ) - it is truly priceless: ( as from all of us struggling to maintain, style & lovingly look after our own manes, all on our own - with some days feeling like we've failed miserably - when in one 'KNOT' event, you feel like you've lost half your hair, in the ensuing snapping & breakage ) - to have a grandmother do that for her grandson is truly priceless & signifies what family love is all about ...
That was very well said. The only thing that I could add was how
jealous I am of his hair.
This video should serve as a lesson that your hair can never be too long. No matter how long your hair is there are things you can do to carry on your daily activities and still keep your long hair long.
I wish I had figured that out in the 1980s. At that time I had
knee length hair, at the time I felt it was too long for mountain climbing, biking, etc. So I cut it bsck to waist length and regretted it ever since then. In retrospect I wish I had tried the many ways of keeping those activities going and keeping the hair long.
