And it is here, on the day before the 9 month marker of my journey from a faux-hawk to long hair, that I have discovered that I can pull off that foldover-"bun" thing in the back.
Of course, the front half of my hair still doesn't quite reach it. For this, I took the regular ponytail and tried to spread it around so that some part of it was facing every direction outwards (the middle being as close to right-on as possible. The longer hairs there can cover up the short ones by wrapping over it sometimes)
I think this is referred to as a sock-bun by some.
I like the look, it's a bit messy while still retaining faux-professionalism, AND it holds better than a ponytail because 2 elastics instead of one.
Since my hair is at the length where it tickles my shoulders too much, I might be doing stuff like this on-and-off for a while, using olive oil and deep conditioners to counterract the constant strain of the elastic.
Rant over, just wanted to share my progress before I make an update video on sunday hopefully.
