Hi guys! I hope you're doing well :)
I have a small question... I read in the "Repetitively Asked Questions" something about "neck hair", but I'm not sure it is the same thing that I will ask here. (English is not my native language so I may not understand all subtleties ^^").
I'm wondering if you guys, when you started growing your hair, use to cut "hair at the lower implantation" until your top hair reach your neck. (omg I hope I'm understandable xD). Because in one hand, I think they are a bit long for the moment, and I don't want something like a mullet.. but in the other hand I think that if I let them grow it will be easier to tie them.
Thanks for your advice :)
Marc
Marc: I read that article that you have mentioned as well however not until just recently so I didn't trim to let the top catch up. Therefore the lower locks of my hair is a bit longer down my back now that my whole head in now long enough to allow the natural body (loose curls with lots of texture) I don't know the reason that this was suggested however I suspect that it is one remedy for maybe wearing long hair in a ponytail. I do not tie my hair back. I love the feel of my hair rubbing my shoulders free and easy and the texture is much to fine to allow this for the sake of damage and I think that there would be a lot of breakage if I did so I am coming up on 3 years of growth and even in the past 6 months the loose locks do look so much longer than just a year ago. I am also conditioning differently. So I do not know what others have done in this respect. I didn't really have a online mentor in getting over the hump of my own acceptance of the me that was inside. I believe that my boyfriend who had really long hair when we came together would had said to me how it was best to do. If you think that your French is difficult to approach American English we can get over that I love French and it really is more widely used that the American language version so there is on need to apologise. If you want to try a translator I like Bablefish and this works well for conversations. Be good happy growing.

Silverthorne doing it one on one
My own experience with neck hair is that I have not cut it for the entire time I have been letting my hair grow. The reputation I have earned on MLLH is one of not doing any trimming of any kind and keeping a "no-nonsense" attitude.
My neck hairs are only about four inches long, but I am not bothered. Sometimes they tangle with my "main" hair, so I need to comb from the "inside out" and "outside inwards".
I understand the concern some people have of having a single length from the outset. My wife would have like me to go with regular trims and constant interference. I have always wanted to go the "natural" way which makes my hair look like some of those portraits from the 17th and 18th centuries.
I am sometimes asked why I tie my hair back. I do so when I go outdoors. A few minutes of your long hair in the wind is "paid for" by getting the knots out with your comb. Hair does need to be looked after, especially if you go motorcycling (or cycling) or sailing as I do. Also when we are in company, with people who are not necessarily sympathetic with long-haired men, it is better not to provoke by running fingers through hair in an attempt to comb it. To them it looks effeminate. Better to tie it back and talk about other subjects with them. That at least is my experience. Confront and provoke too much and sympathy for long-hairs will go down.
That being said, I sleep with my hair loose, and I wear it loose at home or elsewhere indoors with friends.
I have been a "non-trim" man throughout my journey, and I don't think I look like someone with a mullet. My side bangs touch my shoulders and my front bang is just beyond my chin - still too short for a low ponytail. I am patient - just a few more months.
Don't feel pressured to trim. Weigh up the pros and cons according to the kind of image you want of yourself. Make sure you have the hairdresser who will do exactly what you want.
My own mind is to wait for my side bangs to reach my mid-back (which is about my target), and then there is the decision to have it pointed, rounded or straight across. That is a question of taste and something we do when target length is just about achieved.
My tuppence worth...

The more you resist the urge to cut , the sooner you will have the length you want. Things tend to even out by themselves. The biggest thing to remember in hair growth is Patience and to try to enjoy the process of going from being a shorthair to a longhair. Good luck
Hi Marc,
I have never trimmed or cut those hairs. Yes, I think they would be easier to tie if they were allowed to grow longer. Your English is just fine my friend! Please keep it growing and stay well!
