Im just curious, how many of you braid your hair? I'm growing mine out and plan on braiding it when it gets long enough. I've always wanted to try it especially a french braid. Id like to see pics if any of you have any So I can get an idea of what it looks like on a guy
I do.
All of my photos have the hair down and loose.
Dude, that looks sooo complicated. I've tried to do a basic braid but I totally suck at it.
I braid my hair sometimes. It really generates zero reaction. I only get any comments atall when my hair is loose.
Dear Hotshot,
I posted a couple of pictures of myself in a braid a few weeks back. In the interests of saving bandwidth, I won't re-post...just go down 22 threads to "Sunny Day Update," which I posted on 9 April.
I'm sitting here right now with my hair in a braid, but I don't wear one all the time. I alternate the braid with the queue with the bun. I tend to wear my hair loose only when I'm letting it dry or when I'm relaxing at home. For a quick tie-it-up and get outside, I most often use the 'queue' (low ponytail) and I tend to prefer a large clasp to an elastic tie.
A French braid I don't know how to make, just a standard three-part braid. I think it works well for everyday wear; it's a little messy, a little fun, and not as 'pouffy'as a ponytail with my thick hair. It took me a lot of tries before I was able to divide the hair into three more-or-less equal parts and get a nice smooth braid. Now I can do it in a couple minutes. One's hair also must be pretty long for a good braid; mine is now around mid-back. But perhaps finer hair can take it when shorter.
It's like braiding dough for challah, but harder because it's attached to your head and you can't see what you're doing!
Good luck and have fun experimenting as your hair grows!

It's only in the last few months I have had enough hair to braid.
But it is very comfortable and keeps everything neat and tidy. I have had a lot of positive comments as well.
I have been working on doing basic braids. My hair has grown near the top of my jeans. I will most likely get it trimmed to waist soon.

It's my main way that I wear my hair every day. Here's a video of me braiding it. It took a little while to learn but once you get the movements of your fingers, it's easy.

Here's a picture with my braid over my shoulder. My hair is in a braid almost every day and it's how I prefer to sleep, also.
Excuse the crappy lighting and in general not-that-great picture. I'm working with what I've got.
...of the braid down my back.
...thanx for sharing, Jarvis!

I'm a big fan of both braiding and bunning my hair. I have pics somewhere in my iphoto library... I'll have to look for them another time, though, or I'll be late for work!

I do on occasions, especially special occasions. Say once every other week. Then, as I said on another post, it is not really a braid but rather a "French braid inspired" leather ponytail wrap...
I prefer a simple ponytail, or nothing, just because it is takes no time to put on an elastic and because I like to play with hair between my fingers, which I cannot do once it's tied up.
But then there are days when I feel like wearing braid, and I feel comfortable in public.
Plus my girlfriend simply melts for my look with this kind of hair decoration, and the first time I went to the canteen like this a couple of waitresses asked me to "turn around" so they can have a better look at it. I've taken it like a compliment ;-)
