I'm into lord of the rings and other fantasy stuff and have been wanting to try braids for a while. I can only do little ones with pieces of my hair very well right now but I was practicing just normal ones while watching TV this afternoon and my sister put it in a french braid. I like it, but I definitely don't have the guts to wear it like that when I'm out with friends or at school or work or anything right yet. Just wanted to show it off I guess before I take it down.
Now that i'm at the age of 60 I say go for it. I gave up long ago caring what others think. I wear my hair the way I want and don't care what others think. That includes braids, pony tails, the hair loose, buns, pig tails, etc.
Looks good. One of the few things I miss about my former job is the women who loved braiding my hair.
Looks cool!! When you get the guts go for it.
Looks great, Brayden! Here's another vote for working up the courage to wear it outside the house. All the best...
Don
You have awesome thick hair, so it looks perfect. You can pull it off!
Love your photo. You have the perfect type of hair (really beautiful in my opinion). I'd say try wearing it that way (French braided [as an experiment]) once in public and see what people think. It may be that you will inspire other men to grow long hair and try the look on themselves given how impressed they were seeing how nice it appears on you. Worst thing that could happen is some people will be shocked or not like it. Big deal. Most people are not sophisticated though, so anything out of the ordinary (whether good or not) they might not care for regardless. I've worn my hair plaited and frankly some people think my hair looks better this way as compared to the typical low ponytail.
At this I would say wear your hair in public in what ever way you want. Never mind what others think.
I learned yesterday that another friend died. You're only on this planet for a short period of time. So if yout want long hair and you want to braid it or do something else with it then by all means go for it while you're still alive to do it.
At the age of 60 I learned a long time ago that if people don't have my hair to complain about they'd find something else to complain about. Things like my weight, how short I am, etc.
So the moral of the story is wear your hair the way you want
and then proudly walk around through your daily rroutine and
ignore the nay sayers.
I would also mention that complaints about hair come when you're younger. I used to get lots of complaints about my long hair when I was younger. Once I reached 45 years old the complaints stopped. So now that i'm 60 years old I never get complaints.
Thanks guys! I really like braids so I guess I just need to get some confidence. I can just about do a good normal braid every time on myself. Maybe I'll try that this week.
it´s so nice!!!! my bf don´t want to wear it too... and it´s a pity :-(
It looks great on you! You hair seems fairly thick, which is perfect for it.
FYI, in the winter months, my SO is always braiding my hair before I go out skiing (downhill and/or cross country). She says it's to protect my hair from breaking (versus a simple ponytail). When I stop for a pause, I always take off my hat/helmet so my braid is out in the open for everyone to see. I never got any negative remarks....not even from my SO who doesn't really like my long hair...
Your braid looks so cool. Definitely wear it in public!
Totally wear that out in public. I think that today, you can certainly get away with it!
...I like it, but I definitely don't have the guts to wear it like that when I'm out with friends or at school or work or anything right yet. Just wanted to show it off I guess before I take it down....
Dude, those people matter so little right now, and you won't see 99.9% of them after you graduate high school (I'm making an assumption about your age, forgive me if I'm wrong). Life is just too short, to let other people dictate what you do or what you like. I encourage you to wear your hair like that in public and be proud, and I guarantee that you'll feel amazing. It's doing little things like that which make life so amazing sometimes.
Cheers!
Your french braid is amazing.I'm a long hair male, who love wear with bun,up-dos,but is dificult to wear like this on the streeth or in public in general. Want to put a pics of me, but ever said that is heavy my folder for to up
Hi Brayden,
occasional reader and first post, but when talking about braids I am attentive. First time I wore one was in Japan in 2005, my then-friend and now fiancée braided my then-30cm long hair in French style. I had no qualms going like this in public (had done with much more bizarre hairstyles, just for the sake of experimenting). But three-strands braids were already difficult to do for myself (and no, unfortunately my friend was not always there for me --long distance relation even today).
Last year I discovered a way of wrapping hair reminiscent of French braid, in the sense you take small strands left and right but then instead of making a braid they are kept in a running pony-tail, but very braid-looking.
Good thing is it it extremely easy and consistent do do, between 10 and 15 min with my 45cm long hair.
I've made this particular wrap myself, with a meter-long leather string and metal beads.
Have a nice day, and do not be shy.
I love so much your french Braid very cool

I think it looks great on you. You should have courage and go out with that amazing hair style
