Just wanted to post my 13 month update after a slight trim. I am pleased if I do say so myself :) Take care all !
Patrick I don't want to quibble over getting a trim; however with all the body that I see in your hair may I suggest that you start to use Coconut Oil (get a jar at any good grocery) using a very tiny amount (point of reference the size of a dime) on towel dried hair will soften the locks and allows the natural wave of the hair come through. You are now at a point where missing a shampoo with soap in favor of just using your favorite conditioner in the shower will work wonders. Coconut Oil is solid from the jar take a tiny amount on a finger hand warm it using body temperature then working it in and leaving it on is the way that I do it.
I appreciate the feedback and will definitely look into using the coconut oil. I have been shampooing every other day as my hair gets oily pretty fast it seems. I have tried to go days without shampooing to try and control oil, but it is hard due to the fact that I work in a corporate environment in East Texas. The last thing I need is for my hair to look super oily and go to work to be bombarded with negative comments :) I did a very slight trim of a forth of an inch to get rid of some split ends. I will not be touching it again for quite some time. Thanks !
I also have to shampoo every day. I encourage you to continue going to your hair stylist for a 1/4 inch slight trim to keep the ends clean every 6 months. Then, you won't have to get through a major cut...and possibly feel discourage! It worked for me, as my hair is a bit longer than mid back...going to waist!

Hey Patrick Brands,
You should be pleased, bro!
First, it looks awesome! Be pleased about that.
Second, you stood up for who you are - a long haired dude, and prevailed. You even garnered the respect of your superior.
Third, because of your tenacity you may well have helped other potential long haired bros to grow their hair out.
You should be pleased, bro.
I hope that you choose to go for terminal length.
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
As I think I've mentioned before, in my opinion you have the "ideal" type of hair for growing out looooooong... Regardless of whatever ultimate length you decide to grow it to, the wave in your hair and the nice color will prove to be increasingly awe-inspiring as time goes on!

I appreciate the kind words and encouragement Ken :) I can't believe that I waited until my thirties to begin my long hair journey. It sure is liberating, and I look forward to more progress. Take care !
Great stage you have hit, I am sure it is starting to feel like long hair now, sitting well now. Great work! Keep it up!
