As those of you who've seen my previous pictures know, my hair is usually flat and straight, but for some reason (probably because I keep it plaited while in the pool) it tends to dry with a bit of a wave in it after I go swimming.
Hey Sören,
Your hair looks fabulous both in texture and color. As long as your taking precautions the pool water shouldn't harm your hair.I avoid pools and swimming in general, especially in salt water.Regardless thank you for updating us on your awesome mane my friend :) Cheers
Mârk
Thanks, Mârk. I'm careful to always pre-soak my hair in the shower before I swim so the chlorine doesn't damage it too badly, but unfortunately it's gradually drying out at the ends. I'm going to start using a leave-in conditioner and see if that helps. I should probably wear a swim cap, but it's very embarrassing.
Hi Sören,
I have heard that pre soaking your hair with clean water is one way to protect it from the pool chemicals.Like you mentioned there is also the swim cap option which maybe worth a try.You shouldn't feel embarrassed being that's what they are for anyway.Sure if your a bald man you don't need one but there are male swimmers who have hair that needs protecting.Using conditioner as another form of protection sounds like a good idea as well.Sounds like you thought it all out so are on the right track:) Anyway your hair still looks marvelous in my opinion my friend!Cheers
Mârk
Soren, I swim in a salt-water pool and I wear a silicon swim cap. The cap doesn't keep my hair dry, because the bulk of the hair tied up under the cap, prevents the cap from clinging to my head for a tight seal. The cap does, however, keep your hair out of your eyes and keeps it out of your way whilst swimming...probably better than plaiting it would. Maybe the cap, combined with pre-soaking your hair in fresh water, would protect better than just the pre-soak.
BTW, I never noticed you wearing side-swept fringe (bangs) in your previous pictures. Most of us men going long, tend to go with the all-one-length look. But the frienge looks great on you! All the best...
Don
Yeah, I need to get over my pride and just wear a swim cap. I just hate the attention I always get when I go to the pool (due to looking at first glance like a girl in a boy's swimsuit), and I imagine the swim cap would only make it worse.
I'm glad you like my fringe. I first had it cut in for cosplay purposes, but I decided to keep it because I usually wear my hair down, and it's easier to see if long hair doesn't keep falling in my face.
Out of curiosity what Cos play character were you doing?.
And have you enjoyed doing cos play?
The cosplay character that I got my fringe cut in for was Iceland from "Scandinavia and the World" (a webcomic about national stereotypes and world history). Here's the official artwork of him: http://satwcomic.com/iceland
I do enjoy cosplay, but only if I'm dressing as characters that I can identify with personality-wise. When I first started out, I chose characters based upon my physical resemblance to them, but soon got bored portraying them because we had nothing else in common.
We did a group costume for the masquerade several years ago.
It ended up taking several years to complete the costumes and the props. Nowadays i'm too busy working the convention to do any costumes. Also at the convention i'm usually wearing a kilt.
But I know how much work goes into preparing the cosutmes/props/and the routine/scr ipt/etc. that goes along with it.
One thing I would flatly refuse to do is cut any of my hair to
do any costume.
Hi Soren,
Thanks for the update photo! I always love seeing your wonderful blonde hair! Just be careful and don't damage it in the pool water. Please keep it growing and be well my friend!
Ted
You're welcome, Ted. It's difficult being blond and also loving to swim. I'll have to be careful, as you said.
Wow, your blond hair looks great! I didn't realize it was this long! At what length do you want to grow them to?
A.D.
Thanks, A.D. My target length was to my lower back/hips, which I have successfully reached. I'm not opposed to going longer as long as the hair doesn't get too dry and unhealthy.
