I just flew in from Richmond Virginia and boy are my arms tired.
This past weekend we had the annual national encampment for our
civil war group in Richmond Virginia. There were a number of
guys with long hair, mine is still the longest. (It's also longer than all the women in ladies auxiliary.)
I love going into these things with the expectation i'll have the longest hair in the encampment. In past years there were 4 or 5 guys with long hair. This year there were only two. I'm also finding that having long hair is a great way to get recognized.
Was your encampment right in the city itself?
Were the other longhairs southerners or northerners?
It was in the city itself at the Omni Hotel.
We had tours of the local civil war sites (Gaines Mill and Cold Harbor Battlefields.)
Probably northerners. It's a union civil war group.
Fun!! It's great to be a part of a group of like-minded people, AND to be remembered and recognized for long hair. I have a similar experience every time I go Country & Western dancing: it's an easy way for some of my favorite dance partners to find me on a crowded night of dancing, because I have the longest hair in the room!
