Hi Everybody
It has been a long time, and I hope all has been well with the MLHH and members in having great success growing out their hair.
Perhaps many of you in CA. are indeed actually aware of these laws? Thought I would post it anyway in case you were not.
How often over the past 3 years I find myself thinking how fortunate I was to have been born when I was.
With all good wishes-

Much of what he says can be easily refuted with a little googling. It's harvest time in NorCal too. Don't smoke your own product.
Couldn't have said it better.
Have a very happy harvest! And also a Merry Mabon! :)
"A DOE Zero Energy Ready Home is a high performance home which is so energy efficient, that a renewable energy system can offset all or most of its annual energy."
Probably a nice idea, too bad it won't happen for hunderds of years.
There are a number of road blocks to it happening. First and foremost if install solar panels on your house there are electric companies that are requiring thousands of dollars be paid to hook up your solar panesls to the electricity aystem.
(yes there hafe been a number of cases where homeowners installed solar panels only to be told by the electric company it would cost the homeowner $250,000 to connect to the
electrical system to buy back excess electricity. Also a number of electric companies are charging a solar panel "fee" to discourage their use. Also there are cities and towns and home owner associations that regulations against solar panels.
Now i would also note that if you visit New Hampshire there are folks there who have built homes that use no energy, are warm in the winter, cool in the summer. Great idea, it will be many hundreds of years before that becomes common. No way it will happen before 2020.
My understanding on the zero energy homes in California is it applies only to new homes.
Hi "Long Hair In Albany"
Thank you very much responding in the manner in which you have. A "Gentleman's response" for sure. I hope all has been well with you and that you are still having great long hair success. :-)
That was also my understanding until I saw and read this. Enclosed is the video that the man wanted the audience to see. Perhaps nobody bothered to watch or check it out for themselves? In any event you might want to watch and listen or better yet, actually look up these laws on the books.
Thanks again for the manner in which you made your response. Very much appreciated.
Take care and with all best wishes.

After watching the video I did some searches on the internet
and found a number of sources reporting that it is for new home
construction only. i found nothering anywhere to confirm this guys understadning. If this applied to every older home in California it would be repealed by referendum and/or voter outcry. And the banks with lots of money tied up in mortgages would end up getting it shut down to protect their mortgage investments. Very few home owners would be able to afford the huge cost of converting their homes. Too many homeowners would walk away from their houses and default on their mortgage.
Oh good and thank you very much for doing all of that. I had not had a chance to investigate myself yet in depth. Much appreciated and wishing you a great day today! :-)
