I was lucky enough to be at the LHC London meet on Saturday. Ashke took a pic of my braid waves - the first time my hair has been loose for 7 weeks other than once every day or two to redo the braid. Some wonderful manes there, so I was inspired and envious by turns.
Cool... great pic... glad you had a good time...

Thank you - good to hear from you.
Fun!! Reminds me of an old potato chip commercial for a particular brand of crinkled chips that has been sold here in America. Their catchy saying used to go something like this: "Rrrruffles have rrridges!"
Nice pic!

Great reply - I will think of the rrridges!
Very cool. I never tried braiding my hair when I wore it long in my youth, but now that I am growing it out again I might try it when it gets long enough. I'll have to learn how to do it. Thanks for the photo.

Thank you - I have had a lot of positive comments, and it is the most comfortable and tidiest style.
I think we are more adventurous nowadays - it is relatively commonplace to see men with ponytails, braids and buns. When I first grew my hair out in the 1970s, loose hair was the only choice. I wore my first ponytail in 1969, but I would not have dared go out in public with it. My wife (although we were only engaged at that point) offered to braid it in 1973, and I have liked the style ever since, but I have only worn it regularly for the last 6 months or so, and occasionally before that.
Good luck with learning how to do it. The secret is in dividing your hair into three equal portions and making sure that they start in the middle of the back of your head. Learn to do it by feel, not by sight and the more often you do it, the better the braids will be.
EWnjoy and post a photo or two when you succeed!
When I started growing my hair long in 1964 I always wore it loose. Even in the 60s 70s 80s and 90s I always wore it loose. It wasn't until I broke the age of 50 that I had the nerve to
wear pony tails, braids, buns, pig tails. Once I reached the age of 50 I didn't care what others thought or what looked feminine.
I think gender distinctions have become increasingly blurred. In the 60s it was shocking for some people to see women wearing jeans and shirts.
Tied back hair is a sensible choice for long hair, whosever hair it is!
