Hi my name is Phil, I'm 26 years old.
I find it so interesting that many people here say: "I've always wanted long hair!" - and for me it is kind of the same. I've accepted and liked my short hairstyles, but I was very fascinated by the thought of having long hair. So let me tell you something about my journey.
I've been growing out my hair for more than 4 years, since June 2011. Not starting from a buzzcut but from the middle of the nose. Making the decision is really exciting but then you just have to wait. So I read a a lot about long hair and I found this hyperboard and Bill Choissers On Being a Longhair pages which were incredibly helpful for me.
Sometimes it was hard, especially in the beginning, but with shoulder lenght hair and after that, people around me were showing more acceptance and even support - and I'm very grateful and lucky to have that - sometimes from random strangers, which pretty cool :D
I also think that it gives me strength, which sounds a bit weird but maybe you've made similar experiences.
So with all this happening, it would be a shame if I didn't say hi and thank you. You are such a lovely, encouraging and inspiring community. Thank you!
The image was taken in June 2015 and as you can see I have straight brown hair.
Hi Phil and welcome to the mlhh😊 I have to say you've made the correct decision in growing out your hair as it truely looks amazing. It's cool to understand why each of us decides to grow our own hair out as there seems to be a number of reasons on a personal level. As you know once that decision is made it doesn't happen overnight. It takes a lot of dedication and patience.Thank you for telling us about your journey and please do drop in again my friend. Cheers

Hi, PhilipZ! I´m sure your hair does give you strength!
Hi Phil
you have great hair, I guess it looks cool in ponytail too
welcome aboard :)
Hey PhilipZ,
Welcome to the tribe, dude!
Awesome looking hair!
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
Hi Phil,
What a great introduction -- and what a wonderful pic!!!!
That is absolutely AMAZING that you have grown that much hair length in just 4 years, OMG, I am so jealous!!!
If you don't mind me asking: what country are you from, and where do you live? I like the scenery in the background, it looks like a beautiful wilderness area in the far North somewhere, or a mountain top not far from the timberline.
In my opinion, you have the ideal kind of hair to grow out mega-looooooong (if you so wish to do that). it looks very well cared for, too!
Anyway, before I forget to say it: Welcome to MLHH!!!

Hi Ken,
thank you for your very nice compliments! I'm from Germany, currently living in Scotland, Europe. The picture was taken in the Scottish Highlands. Yes the nature is so beautiful! So North was a good guess :)
Oha, it would be interesting to go really long. Maybe, let's see.
I also think that it gives me strength, which sounds a bit weird but maybe you've made similar experiences.
Hey PhilipZ,
P.S.: I don't think that it sounds at all weird. I think that I am more perceptive to my environment because of and through my hair. I know that I am stronger because of my hair.

Hi Phil,
Welcome to the group. I'm new here myself and so glad that I found this place. There are a great group of guys here. You have fantastic hair - I'm envious. I just started letting my hair grow out this year.

Your hair looks great! How long do you want it to be?
I'm not sure really. When I started I just wanted to have long hair and see how it is. I liked shoulder length a lot because it looks good and is easy to handle. My latest goal was hip length which is where I'm currently at. (I might post an update soon.) But now I just keep growing without a certain goal.
Thanks for sharing - you've made great progress. Glad this board has inspired you, and I'm sure you will inspire others.
I feel the same way, glad someone brought it up. I definitely feel more...powerful and creative...with long hair. Maybe it's just because I feel more like me. Who knows? But things in my life have changed for the good since I began growing my hair.
this is so nice picture!!! and your hair is amazing, you are amazing ;-)
I cant believe that this hair is growing for 4 years :-o you can be proud for your hair :-)
You are gorgeous...all "cougars" will be sure to notice!!
Hi Phil,
Although this a few months late, welcome and I'm glad you stuck with growing your hair to its current length. It looks really good.
