Yes. At my current age (62), I am definitely considered to be "too old" to have long hair now....
I am also:
"too Gringo" to eat Mexican food;
"too out-of-style" whenever I wear my favorite cowboy hat; and last but not least,
"too fat" to be able to do any Swing dancing anymore (please see my next pic in my follow-up post to this one....)

My turn to rant:
Don't listen to people who invent weird "rules" that will put limits on you -- be a free thinker instead!
My advise (or is it spelled, "advice?" - LOL):
1) Have fun in life
2) Grow your hair long (regardless of your age, if that's what you'd really love to do)
3) Eat plenty of Mexican food (unless you don't like it!)
4) Wear your favorite hat, if that turns you on...
5) and Swing dance to your heart's content!
-- and stay away from people who give you bad advice!
- Ken
PS - This pic is from October of last year, dancing with my ex-wife (my braid is mostly behind my back, out-of-view in this pic; but still very much attached to my head)!
I LIKE YOUR ATTITUDE!
I think you need to tell someone to take a running jump.
LOL, no worries, I've been known to use even worse language than that when need be!
I've always been a great believer in being polite as much as possible - then, when you do swear, people really take note.
...what a wonderful set of Life-Rules, Ken !! Thanks for Sharing.
I have a decade on you:
....travel most of the year for emergency management work
....work as a Park Ranger when home
....still fly my own airplane
....recently took up sailing
.........and of course; Long Hair !!
Hey White Tail,
Great photo. It looks like you're having a ball. Keep going strong. Age catches up to you if you slow down.
I could not agree more ! My Dad was still an active flight instructor in his 90s.....I'm just a baby !!
What a terrific pic of you, Walter! But, I do have one question: where in the heck can you go sailing, when you live in the desert??? Curious minds want to know!
- Ken
I am currently deployed with FEMA in Texas. I was in Austin for four months....good sailing on Lake Travis. I am now in Denton (near Dallas) staying in a hotel overlooking Lewisville Lake. Looks like I may be here until next June. This I call "retirement".
Living a life of High Adventure !!
Truly great advice Ken! Advice is the noun whereas advise is the verb. :)
Life is way too short to be stuck in a box that society might dictate.
Thanks, Jason! Yes, I agree: life is too short to be stuck doing what others dictate, when our heart wants to break free. Thanks also for the spelling advice, as my gut told me I might be wrong spelling it with an "s" (LOL)!

My wife thinks I am too old for long hair.
OTOH, I have had people tell me that it makes me look older/younger, out of fashion/too slavish to fashion, and many opposite things like that, often by the same person, usually my mother, LOL!
I agree that life is far too short to worry about silly criticism.
This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
(Polonius in Hamlet, by William Shakespeare)
How true it is. And how challenging to accomplish.
That's hilarious, Alun! Leave it to a mom to say those kinds of things!
Also, thanks for including that beautiful quote from Shakespeare, one of my all-time favorites!!
- Ken
You're welcome
Great advice, Ken. And keep swinging!
Thanks, Marx, will do!
Great encouraging post!! I totally agree that we shouldn't have to fit a certain "mold" people put on us.
Grow on, dance on and eat those chimichangas ha ha
Thanks for the nice reply, Wes! Although I'm more of a burrito, quesadilla, or taco man myself, I need to try a chimichanga one of these days (can't believe I've never had one - LOL)!
Always.
At 61 I'm definetly too old to have long hair. That having been said I don't care whats others think. My hair will remain long until the day I die.
Personally I can't tolerate spicy food which poses problems when I visit states like California.
With long hair i almost never wear a hat, although there are those who long hair or with a pony tail sticking out the back.
I avoid any dancing like the plague since I have two left feet and am really bad at it.
Ats 61 i'm also too old for long hair. Despite that it will remain long until the day I die. .
Yes, I'm right there with you! I have zero interest in cutting my hair short, just because some jerk thinks that that I "should", based on their opinion of me being "too old" to have long hair!

LOVE IT !!! & I CONCUR !!! ~~;0)~
Never!! Your hair is awesome. I love the hue and texture. Thanks for sharing the pic!
Age is just a state of mind. Fortunately for me I'm well into
my second childhood!
You should try it, that excuse covers a lot of things.
Yes, that's one of my favorite excuses as well! Personally, my real childhood wasn't all that great; so I'm a firm believer in making up for lost time, and doing many of the things that I can as an adult which I was deprived of when I was a child -- and that includes growing my hair long!!!!!!!
I'm 57, and plan on keeping my hair growing, perhaps to waist length. As they say, you're only as old as you feel. Well, OK, I hope not, since I do have arthritis (lol).
Well, we can't control everything, including sometimes our body doesn't cooperate with our wishes to be as healthy and free-moving as when we were teenagers (an understatement, for me at least - LOL); but we can control our attitude and outlook on life, as well as continue to make the kind of choices that will make us happiest!
I'm 42 and still occasionally hear that I'm too old for long hair, and I grew up during the "hair band" era. I can't believe this form of discrimination (technically sexism) is still considered acceptable.
Wow, you have very nice hair! It's in good condition and falling nicely. "too old to have long hair", that's not true. I'm probably too old to become the worlds best athlete, (just as an example, I'm not trying - good laziness) that's what people can be too old for, but not hair. Not for most other hobbies, it's nice to hear you enjoy swing dancing.
