I'm Greg. I often browse the posts here and final got the guts to post myself. When I hit 40 (nearly 42) told my wife I was going to grow my hair out and fortunately she gave her blessing. I had always wanted to give long hair a go, but never really went through with any serious attempt. I figured since I was fortunate enough to have all my hair, wasn't getting any younger, and was in a position where it wouldn't affect me at my job I would run with it.
As I am sure everyone here knows all to well, the awkward stage was rough, but I preserved. So here I am about 2 years later with hair passed my shoulders and out of the awkward stage, and most importantly I finally feel like a longhair! It was definitely worth the wait. Most of the negative comments have died away, the real exception being my 2 daughters who "hate" dad's hair. But what are parents for if not to frustrate and annoy their children? So sadly for them I plan to continue growing.
Best of luck to each of you and keep on growing!
Congratulations on fulfilling your own goal and desire. We all should do this in our lives. With fantastic full, beautiful hair like yours, there is no doubt you were destined to be a longhair. I am sure you enjoy it and again, congrats. sj
Thanks. It's always fulfilling to reach a goal of any kind and I am certainly enjoying long hair and will continue to do so.

Welcome Greg.
You have super thick hair. That ponytail is as wide as a golf ball. You are truly blessed. Although mine is over 3 feet long, my tail isd only as wide as an index finger.
Scott
Thanks very much. It is quite thick, but perhaps the angle exaggerates a bit.
...is definitely to embarass their kids! This is what Clara and I keep telling our offspring, and we work mightily to fulfil that duty, often succeeding!
Enjoy your hair, Greg; it's wonderfully thick and shiny! (And enjoy those daughters as well! Mine's in uni now...and is no fan of my hair, sigh.)
Don
Thanks, and I get a real kick out of my daughters. the 8 year old has discontinued ponytails since that became my go to about a month ago.
The thickness of your queue is amazing. You have done well to grow your hair young. Keep going! I too find a great deal of encouragement on this board. I'm in my 50's but there are long-hairs older than me with wonderful manes. I too am through the two-year mark.
Anthony
Thanks. It's great to have a place to find encouragement in those rough patches. Not sure if I could have grown it out without support from my wife and the occasional online inspiration.
Hi Greg, welcome to the community here :) I love your story of how the journey played out for you.Once in a while when you think doing something bold it's not all that big a deal as you've found out.Thankfully you gave it a go and the results are stunning!I embarked on my longhair journey in my early 20s so its nice to say my whole adult life has been longhaired for me :)I've never regretted it and still love the hair! Please post often as it would be great hearing from you my friend.Cheers

Thanks! It certainly hasn't been as big a deal as I imagined and I look forward to getting longer and enjoying it for years to come.
I am so envious of your hair. The girth of the ponytail looks amazing.
The girls will come round to it. When I started on my journey, my Mrs and daughter were quite against me growing my hair. The daughter came round quicker when at a parents & Daughters gathering at her new secondary school, a lot of then class colleagues commented on how cool her dad looked!
The wife grew to initially bear with it when we both went to a salon, where the owners commented on how good my hair looked. She is still jealous of it as I have very sleek, straight hair, while hers needs a lot of taming!
Thanks for the compliment, and we'll see. My wife is fine with it, but I imagine my daughters may not come around for quite some time.
Hi Greg
I am so glad for you!
Your hair looks great! It is great that you started growing it out.
Thanks appreciate it
Welcome to the club dude. Your hair is stunning :)
Thanks! yours looks very nice as well.
Wow. You have amazing thick hair. What did it look like before?
Thanks. Had a brief mullet stage growing up, but never anything with any real length. Mostly I just kept it in your standard guy cut and in more recent years a buzz cut from time to time.
More photos of your mane?
Welcome, Greg. Your hair is awesome.
