Dan Price, CEO of a Seattle credit card processing company is actually getting a lot of flack for raising his company's minimum wage to $70K/yr. The authors of the Businessweek article below are critical, too, but he's OK in my book. He should be an inspiration for both underpaying bosses and long hair guys with business aspirations, I think.

I agree with you, Gene, that he is an inspiration, and I applaud his actions in paying a generous wage to his employees. Its difficult to know the motivation behind Dans generosity, but I think his action, of paying his employees a generous wage (whatever the motivation), is what is important from my perspective.
To a certain extent I think that greed is a natural part of human nature; an evolutionary adaption which has helped our species to survive. I see it as one of many traits that have advanced human survival, but are no longer necessary in our modern world. Too often business owners and corporations place a higher value on profits than they do on the people who work for them. Of course, a business must be profitable to survive, but the pay inequity between top executives and their workers has become shameful and I think a lot of it is simply a result of greed. I believe that the work is there for the people, the people are not there for the work. People must always be the highest priority.
Also, to keep the discussion relevant to MLHH, let me say that I absolutely love Dan's long hair : )
I remember reading about this guy a while back. I wonder how well his plan is working.
I love Dan's long hair. It makes him look so distinguished. Search for pics of him with short hair -- he looks like dorky drone in them. He has awesome long locks. Love 'em!
