Just recently got up the courage to add a man bun to the repertoire and wore it out of the house for the first time today on a trip to the supermarket. Overheard 2 people discussing the "old guy trying to look hip with his man bun". Too bad it isn't true.
Oh, I bet they're just jealous. Don't you have the incredibly thick gorgeous hair that a wigmaker would pay thousands for? You should post a pic of your bun. I bet it would give Brock O'Hurn a run for his money!
Here's a picture. Also took advantage of my wife and kids being out of town and shaved my beard as well (wife loves the beard) since I hadn't been clean shaven since I have grown my hair. Must say that the beard + longhair is a better combo, at least for me. Hopefully enough grows back in the next couple days.

I've worn my hair in a bun before it became the hip thing to do.
I still prefer to wear it down and loose. I've never encountered that type of comment.
People are so weird. Why do people care what other do with their hair?
Also, "trying to look hip" isn't the worst thing in the world. It's a pretty innocuous passtime. To comments like that you can always say, "So?"
