Tripped over this on the internet about the origin of band names:

Yeah, I knew about that. Bought the single of Sweet Home Alabama back when it came out.
I used to sing in a band. We were called Toke. As an alternative to the obvious dope reference, our keyboard player said he found in a dictionary that a toke was a type of victorian hat, LOL!
