Hi, this is my 55 month update (4 years and 7 months) with some recent photos. It's the longest I've ever had - before I trimmed the ends a bit. Comparing it to earlier pictures you don't really see a big difference, but it has grown! :) I'm enjoying this length more and more. Shoulder length was really good too but now I like this one a lot again. Oh I remember something: How do you have your hair when you sleep? (especially at about hiplength or more) I'm having it in a side braid but I end up lying on it and pressing it...
Thanks for your help!
Hi PhilipZ,
I must say I am impressed with your hair length. Dedication is what I'm thinking to maintain it at that length. Mine is about half your length and I get tangles every morning after sleeping. I just keep it down and do nothing special with it.
I'm using your picture for inspiration on my quest for your length. I'm at 3 years now.
Hi white mane, thank you! That's so cool that I could inspire you. Somehow I think maintaining it is not too bad, the side braid makes it a lot easier. Your hair looks impressive already and soft and neat. Maybe another 3 years and you will get there!
First let me compliment you on your awesome mane ... looks great!
As for sleeping with super long hair I have been just wearing a light undershirt, pulling my hair to either side in front and securing with a hair tie up near the neck and then putting on another undershirt or t-shirt over it so as my hair is protected between the two shirts. My mane is now to the bottom of my butt and this has been working for me to sleep but may not be for everyone.
There is also a product that I use that you might want to check out - Nexxus Oil Infinite - really helps to keep the hair smooth.
Keep it growing!!!
Karsten
Hi Karsten,
thank you for your nice compliment, your hair is looking great too on the profile picture! It looks like you have different colours. I think I will try out that double T-shirt method and see how it goes. Also I've checked out the oil online and it looks good but I'm a fan of more natural products, I'm using coconut oil (I have also used olive oil) and it works for me. I'm curious how it smells though. Thanks for recommending!
I don't notice much of any smell and it does not leave my hair feeling greasy. I use just two pumps of it in the morning and at night before brushing and have noticed a BIG difference in the condition of my hair. I was using Jojoba Oil and Argan Oil but this works better for me. (I have not tried coconut oil yet.) I really should update my profile photo as it was taken a few years ago. Attached is one from last year.
Karsten, That is one impressive mane, my friend. You obviously take good care of it, as it looks so thick and healthy. I wish I had hair that full, but at my age (65) I'm just glad I have what I have. Thanks for sharing that pic.

Thanks Marx, the compliment is appreciated. I'm turning 61 this year and an very lucky to have what I have in the hair department. (The rest of me not so good.)
Wow amazing length, do you a picture of it down?
Nothing recent but will take a few and post them. Thanks for asking.
Karsten
Oh wow!! Your hair is in a really good condition, at that length, it's incredible. Thanks for sharing the pic and advice.
Wow!!! You hair is very impressive, Philip. What a great look. Sorry I can't give any advice on sleeping, as I am only at shoulder length and sleeping is not an issue. Keep sharing photos - they are very inspirational.
-Marx
Thank you, Marx! That's very nice. I'm sure I will post some more, maybe some different hairstyles. You have some very good images yourself, keep on posting them.
Welcome PhilipZ!
Great seeing guys like you show up on the board and what an impressive mane you've achieve so far :)My hair is straight just like yours, about lower back length, so what I do at night is to first brush it out to make sure there are no tangles. Then I put on a light T shirt leaving my hair inside between the shirt and my body. This way should I toss and turn during the night I don't get my hair pulled which would certainly wake me up! LOL.Everyone has their own methods but this has always worked well for me so give it a try;) Cheers my friend.

Agree!
This is exactly how I keep my hair at night
Hi Mârk,
thank you! This site has many supportive people. Yes, I have the feeling that there are more new people saying hi recently. Thanks for your suggestion, I'll try it out!

This works best for sleeping as well as daily use.

Hi Phillip,
WOW, that is one magnificent head of long hair you have there!!!! i hope you never cut it (other than to trim off split ends - LOL)!
Re. your question about how to sleep with long hair... I guess I don't seem to have any problem with sleeping, regardless of however I'm wearing my hair at the time of going to bed --I've fallen asleep wearing it in a braid, in a bun, in a segmented ponytail, and also with it just being loose. About the only problem I've found is that it seems to matter however the pillow supports my neck; so sometimes, for example, I'll toss my hair up over the pillow towards the headboard -- while at other times, like when I want to sleep on my side, I'll toss the bulk of it either to the left or to the right... it varies. The one thing I find that I DON'T like is whenever my braid or bun are too tight. In that case, I'll either loosen it up a bit, or maybe even completely undo it for the night.
... I hope my comments have helped!

Hi Ken,
thanks for your kind words! I don't think I want to go back to really short hair, so I'll just keep it growing. Also thanks for your advice!
Cheers,
Philip
Great length! Hope you keep on letting them grow longer!
Mine are at about the same length. I don't do anything special at night....I love waking up in the morning with my hair all over my face!
