Hey all,
Don't know if any of you remember me but I'm still alive! I think I haven't posted since 2014 but I felt the need after a friend of mine sent me this link: http://on.fb.me/1TGIZc0
I really don't know how she found it but I laughed out loud. Never really knew my picture (awful quality now that I look at it again) got featured on a Facebook group discussing the website but it really made me feel nostalgic and kinda felt the need to post an update.
I've still got the hair and don't have any plans on cutting it short anytime soon. I've actually trimmed it a couple of times though, mostly because the ends were looking really damaged but after a while I've began questioning whether or not hair longer than waist length would be a problem. I'd certainly appreciate some input from long hair connoisseurs on the matter.
Regardless, it's good to be back and I do hope to hear form you all. Also, please ignore the matted look of my hair on the pic, I had just washed it and didn't bother drying it so there's that.
Cheers!
Welcome back Jesse!
I just checked out that link in your post and have to say your hair is epic!My hair is the exact same type as yours but I've never been able to achieve longer than lower back length but hey, I'm grateful to have that much especially at my age:)I can imagine if your wore your hair loose most of the time it likely would get damaged on the ends. Most of the time when I'm outdoors my hair is restrained in some form just to protect it from the elements.Anyway glad to see you come back and hope to hear more from you my friend.Have a great day:) Cheers
Mârk
Thanks for the encouraging words Mârk, really glad to see you're still around! Yeah, I've limited my 'wearing my hair loose when out' a lot lately for that exact reason, knowing how strong the wind here can sometimes be I'd rather not spend the rest of the afternoon getting rid of tangles/knots.
Anyways, thanks a lot for the tips and kind words my friend!
What, in THIS group you would expect to get any advice other than 'keep growing'??! Looks great...keep up the good work!
Don
Is it a problem? Does it hinder you doing life activities? Is maintaining it a hardship?
Honestly, hair longer than waist was easier for me than hair shorter than waist...and now I'd have to gain more than a foot before the next problem and adjustment would be an issue.
But. Your hair, your decision!
And...noone scrutinizes your ends like you do. Are my ends damaged? I should hope so, they are nearly 10 years old and show the marks of a life lived. S&D now and then to reduce the tangling, and I'm happy. Noone has EVER said "Wow! Your hair is long but your ends are trashed!"
This was the kind of advice I was looking for! I've heard a thousand times from different people that the longer the hair gets, the harder it becomes to maintain yet others say it's easier. Although some aspects of caring for it do consume more time than the one I'd like it to take, the payoff's worth it.

Your mane looks great but for some reason my neck got strained.

Great hair, Jesse!
On "began questioning whether or not hair longer than waist length would be a problem", if you're talking about the work involved in washing and conditioning, that is understandable.
However, if you're concerned with appearance with a longer hair length, why not do a braided horizontal bun at the nape of the neck? That way, you could choose at any time not to let it down for that length. I realize that would be something new in men's hair styling, but it just might work. If I had that hair length, I would definitely do it.
Thanks for the hint, I'd actually like to give that hairstyle a try but I'm having a hard time visualizing it. It does sound interesting, though.
You're longer than your natural waist in length now. It is really your decision. You can always grow it and then trim later, if you wish. My hair at its longest was your length. You have nice healthy hair.
Hi Jesse,
your hair is so long and in good condition, it's incredible. For me it'll be about 2 years maybe to reach that length. Exciting journey. Do you have a goal length?
Cheers,
Philip
Hi Philip,
Thanks for the kind words! I'm actually quite a fan of your hair myself and maybe my memory's failing me but wasn't your hair around waist/hip length too? Regardless, thanks for the encouraging words.
As far as a goal length, my initial goal was growing down to my waist but now that that's done I guess knee length would be my new target length. I'd love to have floor length hair but I don't know if that'll be too much.
Cheers!
Hi Jesse,
thank you! Yes, I'm at a bit more than hip length right now. Yeah that's a good way of choosing your target length, just let it grow and see how it will be. Knee length sounds like a good goal for me too.
Cheers,
Philip
