My current hair length is exactly the same as in this photo (which was taken by Mark "Hairball" in Sept.of 2011 -- thank you, Mark!)... which means I've been at terminal length for quite a few years now.
I keep on hoping that it will eventually grow down far enough to someday be able to sit on it; but Mother Nature (my hair genetics plus my old geezer age) says "no way, Jose' -- just shut up and be happy with what you've got!"
I am I am, I am happy with what hair I do have; but hair is like a fine-quality chocolate: a small amount is never enough!

Hi Ken,
Oh yes how I remember that day when we took all those hair pics at that location. The weather was fantastic and so mild especially being at the coastline.
I hear ya though as I'm in the same boat as far as terminal length goes.I haven't had a professional trim, or even a freebie one by myself, since the summer of 2005.I just let it grow and I know its still growing as proven by my natural hair color creeping in at my scalp between henna treatments.Makes me wonder whats happening at the other end.LOL.Like you I'm happy with what I have as its a full head of hair and at least lower back I conclude.Hope all is well with you and look forward to another meetup in a few months :) Cheers

Hey Mark,
In addition to your hair (which I think looks terrific in this pic!!), you forgot to mention to the readers here that, thanks to you stepping in and lifting up this giant cable, the iconic Golden Gate Bridge is still standing strong! If it was not for your super-human strength that day (which of course we all credit to the amazing Sampson within you because of the secret powers of having long hair!), that bridge might have sadly fallen into the ocean...
The world owes you a huge THANK YOU for being so strong and "saving the day" -- and of course, the whole reason you are that physically strong is all thanks to the fact that your hair is at terminal length!
(I'd make a good ad executive for selling some kind of BS product in a bottle, wouldn't I? - LOL!!)
Hi Ken,
your hair is at a very nice length anyway. Congrats to that step, many people will never know their terminal length.
Thanks for the update, I agree with that chocolate comparison!

Your hair looks great, Ken. And you've got so much of it. I think the length is awesome. I'd be thrilled to have that much hair, that long.
Hi Marx,
Thanks so much for the kind reply!! I think it's all relative. I am grateful I've got what I've got; but it's one of those things that is easy to always wish there was more... A bit hair-obsessed, maybe? Oh, no no no, not me! (Yeah, right! - LOL!!)

My goal is for my hair to reach it's terminal length, and then to spend some time evaluating if I want it to be at any other length. Hopefully, I have a few more years until I have to make any decisions. At first I was impatient and wanted it to grow faster. Then I was fine, but would get these sudden impulses to go chop it off for no reason. It wasn't because it was in my eyes or anything, my hair was at my shoulders by that point. Now I seem to be fine, and hardly ever have that urge to inexplicably chop. Now I'm happy with the length, and I want to see how long I can grow it. So far, despite how tangled it gets, I haven't had any split end damage, so I haven't had to worry about trims.
That's an excellent goal there, a very good way to approach it. For me, evaluation and re-evaluation are sort of an on-going thing, even though for several years now I've been happy just keeping my hair at terminal length.
