Hey guys,
Ive run into an issue with roommates -- I shed everywhere. What should I do to stop leaving a red-brown-black carpet behind me?
I would point out shedding is normal. The average person sheds
100 hairs per day. You may not be shedding more, it just may be
more noticable due to the length.
----------------
The shed rate drops when hair gets long. With 100,000 hairs on your head and losing 100 per day (1/1000 of your total hair) and growing 0.4 mm per day would yield only 40 centimeters maximum length. Mine is a meter in length.

I have to ask how is it possible for the shed rate to drop?
I'd have to think the root can't tell how long the hair is,
so you'd have the same shed rate whether it is long or short.
-------------
I have heard it can. The root strengthens to support the additional weight. Again, if 100 out of 100,000 hairs shed out per day, a hair would only have a 1000 day lifespan, enough to reach a maximum of only 40 centimeters. Mine is 2 1/2 times that.
