Hi, I have a long pony tail I keep real neat and am clean shaven and also workout, along with a B.A. and M.A. However I still feel people view me as a freak or a halfwit, someone less then they are. Sure, I live in S. Cal. where many seem to be dealing with mental illness, but come on it is just a pony tail. What do you guy think? It is sort of funny with all the twisted shit people are doing out there long hair is still stigmatized.
Wait, wait, wait, wait. Didn't understand a thing you said.
What you're trying to say is that people see you as a freak just because you got an undercut(shaved sides and back, long on top)? Damn, that's BS, don't give any attention of what they say. Maybe they're jealous because they don't have long hair?
If you give attention to anything people throw at you, you can end up with mental illness.
Take care!
I say screw them. Enjoy your long hair and ignore the naysayers.
I'm 61, have had long hair since 1964. at the age of 61
I don't care what others think. If someone doesn't like it it's their problem, not mine.
Hey Frairi,
Welcome to the site, if your new here. I get that feeling sometimes myself (feel that people view me as a freak). When I really think about it, though, I realize that if someone is looking at me, or staring at me or two people are looking at me and talking (about me?) I really have no idea what they are thinking, so a lot of what I am feeling is just my own projection of what they might be thinking. It would be different if someone said, Hey freak, or had body language that could be clearly interpreted as expressing a negative attitude, but that has never been the case for me. So, I just try not to be concerned, or think about or care about how other people might view me. I realized long ago that I would never be happy if I worried about other peoples opinions of me, especially the opinions of people that I do not know. Just be yourself and enjoy your life and your long hair.
I learned long ago to ignore the comments made by others.
I started growing my hair long in 1964 and remember all the comments during the 60s and 70s along the line of "Hey Hippie,
get a haircut. I heard it often enough that it encouraged me to
keep my hair long and to grow it longer. But that was then,
this is now. Now that i'm 61 years old I never get any complaints or people telling me to get a haircut.
So my advice is to ignore the naysayers, they're just jealous that you can grow your hair long and they can't.
So this hippie kept at it and kept his hair long and ignore the naysayers. And this hippie even joined as civil war group
io 2010 and got absolutely no complaints about the hair from them.
So stick to your guns and keep your hair long. it will be worth it. When I reached the age of 45 the complaints stopped, I was the eccentric uncle,(eccentric old man) with long hair.
