Happy Memorial Day to you folks, I hope all of you are doing great.
I cant begin to describe how surreal it is to have rediscovered this board and how it hasnt changed one bit in all these years. It was in 2002 as a 19 year old that I first stumbled upon this board and started posting my pics and questions. In an era devoid of social media, I was so happy to have found a little place on the internet where we all spoke unfettered about our love for long hair.
As I turned 20 and headed out into doing an MBA, I promptly cut my hair. Only to grow it back between 2006-2008. But I honestly thought that was it the last hurrah. But here I am once again, still working in the corporate world and still finding a way to keep my hair long.
Im putting together a chronological collage so to speak just to share the journey since the first time I came upon this board.
Right now, Ive been growing my hair since May 2014. It feels good to have completed the two year anniversary.
On a side note, I feel that my ends have curled up quite a bit and my hair especially at the back isnt growing as fast as it should. Ive also noticed that my hair at the ends is very frizzy and I have some split ends as well.
I havent had any trims during the last 2 years at all. Do you think it would be beneficial to have a minor trim in order to get rid of the split ends and the boost the growth of the hair? Any other suggestions or tips you might have as well would also be more than welcome.
PS: The fact that the look and feel of the board is still the same as the early 2000s is something else :)
Greetings Neonfish and a happy Memorial Day to you as well.
You know, I love it when the alumni returns to the community as that really
means something to me. You were involved here before I hit the scene which for me was mid 2005. I've been active here ever since but I can tell you activity here has had its ups and downs. Right now I'd say we are on one of those downs which I attribute it partly to completion of sites like Facebook. There may be other reasons but activity here has slowed a lot.
Being you have been here way back then I'm not sure if you knew of Bill Chossier. He was instrumental in making this board what it is today but sadly he passed away just last week :( I want to see his legacy live on so I'm hoping longhairs like you keep on stopping in.In a way we here at mlhh are at a cross roads but my hope is we can keep this thing alive for guys just like you my friend.
As for myself I've been a longhair my whole adult life to date. Funny as all my adolescent years I was shorthaired but after high school the longhair in me was born:) Now just turning 54 I just enjoy what I have. I never trim my hair but I do color it with henna. Contrary to what some might think it all makes me feel good about myself. I still feel and look young IMHO and just go with the flow.
Anyway thank you for your post and my suggestion would be trim the splits if you must but cutting hair does not speed hair growth as that's just an old wives tale. Actually I feel it's a ploy to get guys to cut their hair short again since trimming ruins your progress. I'm including a fresh pic of good ole me approaching geezer hood. Keep the faith and be true to yourself :) Cheers

Happy Memorial Day to you folks, I hope all of you are doing great.
Thank you to you and Bruce for the replies. I did sense that the activity had been on the slower side from going through the recent threads on the board. I also picked up on Bill's passing from one of the other threads - may his soul RIP.
I did not know of Bill as my time here on the board in 2002-03 was limited. Those were the days when internet connectivity wasn't ubiquitous in India and I would have to hunker down in one of the internet parlors just to get my 15-20 minutes of browsing done.
All these years later, I think the present generation is quite obsessed with the prettiness and virality of Instagram and Pinterest and people only have the time to 'like' or 'share' rather than "write" and truly share, which is what communities like these require.
However, I think the very same reason gives a community like this the trusted badge of honor and makes it a stomping ground of choice for a band of brothers who share a common passion.
I look forward to being more active here. Have a great rest of the week you guys!
Thank you for the reply Neonfish :) I have to admit your words do ring true about the internet today compared to its earlier days some 10 + years ago.I first got online back in 1995 and what a stark difference from then til now.In those days it was dial up internet or parlors like you mentioned.Certainly no streaming video or live chats such as with Skype. You are correct being things today seem more like sound bites then actual conversations.I've personally met so many friend in real life because of this board it speaks volumes.Hopefully activity will pick up again here but only time will tell.Cheers.

I can't say it any better than you guys already have. I just want to voice my heartfelt agreement about this great community and what sets it apart from the rest of the internet, at large. I hope to see the MLHH continue on indefinitely, as it has remained all these years.
Warm regards,
Val
Welcome back Neonfish. As Mârk said it's good to see past members dropping in.
Your hair appears fantastic, but if you feel you need to trim, have only someone you can trust to only "dust" the ends. That'll take care of the splits but leave your progress intact.
Bruce
It's cool that you're checking in again, Neonfish. When I first grew my hair long back in the 1970s I ran into plenty of prejudice in business, but today's environment is very different. It's still true that anyone who looks out of the norm has a challenge ahead of them, but if you make sure you're so good at what you do they can't ignore you, you'll be fine and be accepted.
You're hair looks great, BTW. I've always found people tend to be much more accepting of long haired guys if his hair is very well taken care of and looks good, even if it's good in a long style. Stay with it.
