It has been some days since I could get some time at the kbd. If any one is interested, here is what I do, what I used to do, and what the other fellow in the subway does. I have MPB on the top, with only the sides and back left. The hair here is about 20 inches long. I blow dry it all forward and to the right, It covers pretty well, but certainly looks "swept up" from the back. The length all ends up hanging over my right ear. After heavily spraying the top and back, and drying the spray with the blower, I gather the hair over the ear and wet it again with a wet comb. (wet hair is much less bulky). I comb it out and roll it up around two fingers and tuck it under and pin it in place with two or three (hidden) bobby pins. Then, more spray. This works pretty well. If I want it especially hidden, I add a few long thin clips to "flatten" the bun while the spray drys.
What I used to do, when the top had some hair, was a conventional side part style. Both sides brushed back, but instead of meeting to form a ponytail, I would twist it a bit and fold it under and pin it. The clips again to flatten it. ( I used 6, vertically, from bottom up all around the back from ear to ear) Lots of spray. Worked well for years! With as long as a 14 inch ponytail!
The other guy in the subway (see earlier post"A Conversation")has some short curls on top, but getting sparse. His sides and back are long. ( I dont know how long) He brushed both sides back, formed the ponytail into a low bun, rolled under. The shorter curls on the top and back covered the bun somewhat and made it hard to spot. It looked like he had slightly longish hair, curled under in the back. I tried this style last weekend, I think it would work for me even with the
short curls as cover.
Well.. that's the story.
