Hello gents old and new. I used to be a regular poster on this great site (to which I owe having been able to endure two awkward stages). This place didn't only teach me about hair, the site and the journey really teach a lot of life lessons. Altogether we become stronger and more able to deal with all the things presented to us. To judgemental people we say it's just hair but when you have to learn to be who you are and embrace it, it's a lot more.
I sort of stopped posting and just lurked at times. Life had me busy with stuff. Over the past 5 to 6 years I've been adding tattoos and piercing stuff to my long hair. I love it all. I've been lucky to run into very talented artists and I love the meaning and the statement my ink conveys.. My hair has been long all this time (I couldn't see it any other way). I briefly considered dreadlocks but changed my mind. I guess the hair is just so normal to me by now that the need to come here for advice ceased to exist. I'm back for the community though and today I have a big update. I changed my hair color. I always wanted this color and in the end it is my hair. It IS VERY DRYING to do this but I was ready to pay the price, with common sense it's not so bad. Please don't give me too much of a hard time for all the chemicals. Peace.

Hi Giacco,
Welcome back to the board as a poster instead of a lurker ;) To be honest I've also sort of fell into lurker status but do check the board daily. Like you my hair is what it is so really there isn't anything new to show for those that already know me.One new thing had been growing my beard out so now I have that with my longhair :) Several years ago I changed my hair color to a henna red but no chemicals with my change. Lol. Regardless we do what makes us happy as I have to say your hair looks fabulous! Interesting about the tattoos as that's one thing I've never done.My boldest adornment to my body is having my ears peirced which isn't new. Anyway great seeing the old members show up from time to time so please don't be a stranger my friend. Attached is a recent pic of my mug! Ha ha. Cheers

Hey Mark,
Thank you for the kind words. Alway grwat to see familiar faces. The hair and beard look amazing. The whole thing really suits you. Does the henna help with your hair's condition as Ive read somewhere?
The one thing about my hair though is length. Even after almost 10 years since my last major trim, my apparent length is not really what you'd expect after so many years... The curls eat up massive amounts of length and my terminal seems to be much shorter than my curls would need to go all the way down. Still I don't complain. I've learned to like the curls and when pulled on, the length really shows.
Hi Giacco,
I find the henna does not in any way harm my hair but may help it. My hair always feels nice in texture right after I do the treatment but I do shampoo and condition as the final steps after I wash out the henna. Also I have not trimmed my hair since 2005 so you would think like 11 years later it would be very long. Its seemed to level out at mid back length but I know its still growing based on new growth at my scalp that is not yet hennaed.Hair shedding is normal in my opinion.Cheers

How did you do it without chemicals?
Henna is derived from a natural plant that has dying properties.I did not want to chemically dye my hair so henna fit the bill and I loved the color it produced :) Cheers

Hi, Giacco!
Great hair! I love the color too! I know about the chemichals (been there, done that!), but it's your hair after all!
Hi Giacco,
Its great that you posted and updated us. I think your curls are really cool looking and, as you said, your hair is much longer than it would initially appear to be because of them.
I know what you mean about getting so used to long hair that we dont think about it much. I can understand the desire to change things up a bit with the color. Ive experimented in the past with various temporary dyes.
Currently Im trying for terminal length as Ive never really let it go long enough to see where it is. I tend to get fed up with the quality of the ends and do trimming. Im hoping to hold on this time to at least satisfy my curiosity.
Dont be a stranger!
