Hi all,
Well, here is my 18 month growth update. Sure do wish it was longer, but oh well. The color seems to slowly be going to gray. It used to be so much darker. But I like gray hair so no problem there. I can't wait to see what it looks like at 2 years. Onward and downward guys!
Ted
Hey Ted,
Your hair looks awesome, dude.
I agree that your natural hair color is the best way to go. After all, it's the hair God gave you.
Seriously, your hair looks gorgeous!
Please keep us updated with new pics.
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
Hi Raymond,
Thanks so much for your very kind reply! Actually I am very happy I still have my hair! But I would take your hair color any day! I love your hair! You always look so good in your pictures when you post them! I am looking forward to your next update!
I think maybe one of my meds is causing my hair to grow slower than usual. Seems like I should have a little more growth than this. But I will take what I can get! Maybe the 2 year mark will be nice!
Please take care of yourself and keep it growing my friend!
Ted
Your hair looks good Ted! iI am glad your healthy and doing well!
Darrin
Hi Darrin,
I thank you kindly for the very nice reply! I will be much happier when my hair hangs down in the front. I really like the way long hair also falls across the shoulders as well. I'm probably looking at another year at least. But I kind of hope not.:)
My health has been holding up pretty good considering all my issues. In August I will have been on dialysis for 6 years. I feel good most days and can't really complain. As a matter of fact, these update photos were taken after a 4 hour day on dialysis. I really appreciate you mentioning my health! I hope you are doing well also and may your hair continue to grow fast!
Ted
Thanks Ted! I am happy for you and keep the hair going. I too hope for some fast growth.
Darrin
Undeniably believe that which you said. Your favorite justification seemed to be on the internet the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while people think about worries that they plainly don't know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks

Hi Ted,
I'm happy to see others have been asking how you've been feeling knowing what your going through.I commend you on your positive outlook on life in spite of having to put up with dialysis.
On the hair subject you are making a fine come back since your fateful trim some time ago.You are very patient which is a must when it comes to being a longhair ;) Before you know it that hair will be cascading down your back again my friend:)Keep the faith and soldier on .......Cheers

Hi Ted,
It's always great to hear from you, and thank you for sharing your update with us. As always, your hair looks great, and although I understand that you are frustrated that it's not growing as fast as you would like, the important thing is that it's still growing. It's shiny and healthy looking, and I never mind having a few "natural silvers" either. Keep up the good work with the growing.
As always, my very best to you, and your positive attitude is a genuine inspiration to all.
Take care,
David
Hi David,
Thanks so much for your very kind remarks! Yes, I am happy that at least my hair is still growing! I think it's going to look better and better with each year I grow it! It just takes much patience! I would be more than happy if it all went silver! That would be awesome! I do like the color your hair is and would really like that!
I think my attitude became more positive when I found out I had Polycystic Kidney disease and had to depend on dialysis to stay alive. There are many times when I "forget" that I have a terminal illness. This is because I now enjoy each and every day as it is my last. I take a lot less for granted nowadays. I also found out that every day is a gift. That's why we call it the present. I thank you kindly for your well wishes and hope you take care up there in God's country where you live! Truly beautiful up there! Even though I could never handle the cold!
Ted
Hi Ted.
Great to hear from you. Your hair looks great. Keep on going...and most importantly keep that positive attitude.
A.D.
Hi A.D.,
Thanks a bunch for your very nice reply! I am not real happy with my hair yet. Maybe when I get to your length! But I have a long way to go! I will not be cutting for a long time! The positive attitude shall not go anywhere! I could not deal with my various medical issues without it! Life is good and always will be!
Please take care of yourself and have a great week my friend!
Ted
Ted, you have terrific hair to work with -- and I don't see the grey yet that you mention; regardless, looking' good! It's been a long time!!!
- Ken in San Francisco (who is currently typing on his work computer in Castro Valley, CA)
Hi Ken,
Thanks a bunch for your very kind reply! I guess I am happy with my progress so far! I definitely learned my lesson about cutting! It just takes so long to grow it back! I think it's hard to see the gray in the photos, but under strong light they show up. My hair used to be a lot darker from what I remember. I love long gray hair on both men and women! Heck, I just love long hair, period!
If I lived close to you I could have gotten together with Patrick and had you set up with a whiz-bang computer setup! I have so many friends who seem to forget I know about computers and they overspend big time. But I do understand what you mean about staying low-tech! Please stay well and don't be a stranger my friend!
Ted
Great to see you are doing well Ted :) Keep on with the hair growth. Before you know it, you will be amazed at how much of a change you have gone through.
Hi Patrick,
I appreciate your very nice words! I am feeling well and doing good considering all my health issues! I have been following your progress with great interest! You have come a long way and have given me much inspiration! You have excellent hair to work with and I hope you just let it grow and grow! Do you have any idea of a goal length? Or are you trying for terminal length?
I don't plan on cutting my hair until I get to at least waist length. I just want to feel it swishing around as I walk! I hope you and your family are doing well and your newest addition is healthy and happy! Keep it growing!
Ted
In time, it will be longer. It looks like it is coming in nicely. Hope all is well with you health-wise. The grey will start sneaking in, it's inevitable. Some consider it to be a sign of wisdom. ;-)
Hi Carol,
Many thanks for the very nice reply! Yes, I just need to remain patient and quit watching it grow! I just can't wait to get to the point where it hangs down nicely in the front and back! I also welcome the silver hairs as I think they look awesome especially long! I much appreciate your well wishes! My health is holding up so far thank Goodness! I am still waiting to get put back on the kidney transplant list. In August I will have been going to dialysis for 6 years. Not fun but absolutely necessary. Life is good none the less!
I hope you are doing well also and please don't be a stranger around here!
Ted
Dialysis can be physically taxing. One of my neighbors goes to dialysis, the DART paratransit bus is here frequently, just to pick him up & take him home. Hope you not only get back on the transplant list, but that a match becomes available (perhaps from a living donor).
I'm doing good, I had an excellent physiatrist treat my chronic pain issues, and decided to stop using opioid meds. I did a slowwwww taper, before stopping completely. Did it on my own with doctor supervision. Initial detox took about 4 days, but it takes forever to get my dopamine levels up, so I have had restlessness, for which I'm on medication for. Eventually, I will be back to normal. Lidocaine ointment, daily Turmeric supplements, MSM (Good for hair as well as joints), all help. So the past 6 months have been a roller-coaster.
Not too mention I'm fixing up the bargain townhouse I bought. Had a general contractor & neighborhood handyman working for me. I'm adding solar energy soon, that will be nice to have. The entire kitchen was gutted and redone, and new flooring was installed in living room and halls by contractor. Handyman repaired and coated back stucco wall, and landscaped & planted garden out front. Bedrooms still need new floors, and bathroom has new vanity but toilet and tub have got to go. Back yard needs plants, and fence needs fixing - handyman will do that. And I still have stuff to unpack.
I try to drop in once-in-a-while. Want to get the rest of the townhouse done, need money to do it. Hoping to get it done before the end of this year. I'll try not to be too much of a stranger - I've gotten over the big hurdles, it's all downhill from here.
Hi Carol,
My apologies for the late reply! Yes, you are correct about dialysis. I have good and bad dialysis days. Your well wishes for a transplant are sincerely appreciated!
I am happy to hear you are doing well and not using the opioid meds! I also try not to use those or any powerful pain killers. They just mess me up! I surely hope your health continues to improve and you stay healthy!
Sounds like fun fixing up the townhome! It is nice to make it how you would like it to look! Very happy for you! I understand about the money issue! But it will be worth it in the end! You should let us know when you get it completed! And definitely check in once in a while! Please take care of yourself my friend!
Ted
