Assyrian general, HOLOFERNES... fell into a drunken sleep...
.....in his tent Judith and her maid were waiting for their moment...
...Judith grabbed Holofernes' hair and decapitated him with his
own sword...
On seeing the head, the people were inspired...
[hmmmmmmm...oesn't take much to inspire some people!]
...The Bible has so many wonderful stories !....te..he
Why did he do to deserve an assassination?
.....ummmmmmm....here's the basic idea:
During a siege of the city of Bethulia,
the beautiful widow Judith is determined to save her people...
... by assassinating General HOLOFERNES.
When he invited her into his tent for an evening banquet, intending to seduce her,
....Judith waited until he fell into a drunken sleep and then
grabbed that military Longhair and cut off his head...
.... bringing it in a sack to Bethulia.
The Hebrew defenders mounted the head on the towns ramparts and soon routed the leaderless Assyrian troops.
....hmmmmm, I think I lost my appetite...
Just as a matter of interest this story is not from the Bible but from the Apocrypha
....Hmmmmm...that's TRUE! ....so maybe the story is FALSE!
Jesus loves me this I know,
Cause the Bible tells me so.

Stuff I learned from the grownups in my town before I was ten. (And I've loved longhaired men ever since. -eg- )
To quote Kevin Smith, "...I've always maintained that the only thing wrong with Christianity was the Christians."
I may not be a believer in Christianity, but you can't really argue with Smith about that statement.
