Hi everyone :)
I've recently reached my 6 year mark in growing out my hair. I was really looking forward to this day, because it's another year completed, haha. Here is a picture and a youtube video.
I'm sorry for being absent in the past months, I will be more active when I have the time. Thank you for your support and keep growing your hair as long you wish!
Cheers,
Phil

Holy batman! That is some killer flow man, for real. 6 years is a hell of an accomplishment. Obviously you're committed, but does the desire to cut it back ever wash over you at all still? I know it does with me and mine is about half the length of yours. What's your routine like? Surely washing it and everything requires you to schedule in advance haha.
Holy batman, haha :) Thank you. I'm not thinking of it as that much of an accomplishment, probably because I could get used to it gradually and because having long hair is a normal thing for me. No, I don't wish to cut it short at all. I think that between 2 and 4 years of hair growth, I kind of felt like I'm missing out all the fun you can have with short hairstyles. Or just in general, sometimes I felt like I needed some change, but I always decided to keep the hair long, because I set my priority to long and healthy hair rather than styling or dying it according to fashion trends.
I wash roughly every 5 days, I'm using regular soap instead of shampoo (I can recommend olive oil soap and Aleppo soap), currently I'm using a regular scented soap and it works fine as well. I put the lather only on the scalp and wash the front and the back thoroughly. Then I use apple cider vinegar mixed with cold water as a rinse and leave it in. I condition the ends with coconut oil in the morning and in the evening.
Washing takes roughly 17 minutes and drying takes usually 3 hours, so I wash on the weekend or in the evening, it has become very normal to me :)
I've made a video to illustrate how I wash it, my routine has minor changes described above.
I hope this helps!
Cheers,
Phil
Hi Phil,
Nice seeing you pop back in again with a fantastic + inspiring update!I did watch you video which was interesting with your choice of music.I might have thought you'd use some headbanging metal so you could really twirl that mane! LOL.Regardless your hair is breathtaking and truly an inspiring display to encourage all the buzzcut guys to grow it out ;) He he. Cheers
Mârk
Hi Mârk,
thank you! I'm excited when there there comes another year, haha. Yeah, I thought of doing that! I thought let's find a remix of a popular song, something that sounds more celebrating. But then I decided to go for one of my original songs. I wasn't quite sure whether it fits, but it's ok I think.
Thank you! It makes me happy if it can inspire others :)
Cheers,
Phil

Your hair looks super. Keep it growing.

Hi Phil,
What can I say? You and your hair are looking just fantastic! I can only hope to get my hair as long as yours! I just have to learn to be patient! It seems like when I get to 2 years I want to cut it! I congratulate you on 6 years! Is this the longest you have grown your hair? I am going to check out your Youtube video tomorrow at my dialysis clinic. They have a faster internet connection.:) Please keep that beautiful hair growing! And also please take care of yourself!
Ted
Hi Ted,
thank you for your message! I hope you can grow your hair as long as you want it :) Yes I know that feeling, when I had long hair for about 4 years, I felt like I'm missing out "all the fun" you can have with short hair styles. I'm not sure if this thought makes sense, haha. Yes, it is the longest I've ever had my hair, it is the first time I'm growing it out from nose length hairstyles.
I wish you good health, strength for your dialysis treatments and patience for growing out your hair!
Take care,
Phil
Hi Philip, congratulations on hitting the six year mark, your hair looks fantastic! That is a great song you wrote, beautiful! I think it was a great choice for this video update. To me being longhair makes me happy inside and brings a certain peace.
Bruce
Hi Bruce,
thank you for your compliments! I'm glad you like the song :) That's interesting, so the song kind of reflects the long hair journey. Keep it growing!
