Hello MLHH I have always had short cut hair, and even a shaved head at times, but I really want tot try it out! Is there any sort of special addition things I must be concerned with in my conversion? And some suggestions like Shampoo, designs for starters, color, etc. Thanks!
Best thing is to stop cutting it. Wash and shampoo once a week, unless you have special needs, and use a good conditioner depending on how greasy your hair is. In the photo, it is almost straight, so it should be easy enough to look after.
After all that, a great big dose of patience. It takes years, but go a month at a time, and enjoy the journey...

Got the Gorillaz there on your computer - good taste of music ;) ~
I'm only a novice with 32 months growth, but as my hair lengthened I found less product was needed to the point of washing once a week with conditioner and any other times it needs a little clean up simply involved a through rinse. Clear tangles with a little good quality Argan oil. This now carries me through the week

I've had long hair for most of my (now pretty lengthy)life and the best advice I can give for growing long hair is to do as little to it as possible. Keep use of things like washing, styling products, gadgets, hats, heat and so forth to a minimum. The reason wig makers prefer hair from third world countries is that people there don't wash and gunk theirs up as much as we do here.
During the grow-out period it will stick out in annoying directions until the hair is heavy enough to weigh it down and redirect growth. Just be patient with it. Do as little as possible with you hair, put your mind on other things and you'll end up with great long hair.
