Almost 10 months and I can't stand my hair!! I'm so close to using gel... problem is i absolutely HATE gel, i hate the feel, the look, the fact that it makes you look like a typical short haired guy (well w/longer hair) This sounds like nothing but it's a very big deal for me. Ever since I started school (2 weeks) I have had all bad hair days (i guess it's from walking around and sweating and all that) except for the weekend! Amazing, the two days that I'm not at school my hair looked really good! Damn this awkward stage! But anyways, to me using gel is almost like cutting your hair (yes, it makes me feel THAT bad to wear gel) but on the other hand, my hair is a mess! I really don't know what to do.
I find that I can control my hair quite successfully with a liberal application of almond oil. It doesn;t make my hair dry and hard like gel does and I can get quite a good mafioso loog, all slicked back with most my hair at the back.
I used this the other day when I had to control my crazy curls to attend a family funeral.
Cheers

Put some olive oil into your wet or damp hair after
you rinsed. Leave the oil in. Towel dry. Add some gel. Style.
You should notice a big difference. Works for me.
I use almond oil on my wet hair, definitely helps make it behave. But I always air dry.
For someone with about six inches of (unruly) hair?
Just a drop cupped in the palm of your hand for me. Just experiment you wont break anything. :-)

...I MUST BE A GROCERY SHOPPING ILLITERATE...
.....cause I don't know WHERE to get ALMOND OIL!
....is it really better than OLIVE OiL?
Dunno never used olive oil. You more likely to find almond oil in the drugstore, it's used as a base oil for aromotherapy.
look at it this way:
1) It won't be forever
2) It's part of the persistence that separates the men from the boys
3) It's a small price to pay considering the nice mane you'll have later
For me, 2 things got me through the awkward stage: hats and gel (I wore one or the other)
If you're having a bad hair day, nobody cares, ESPECIALLY in high school. Everyone is too busy worrying about what other people are thinking of them to have time to think anything about other people. It's one of the great ironies of run-amok insecurity.
Wear a hat, use gel or mousse (which you CAN brush the crunchiness out of, BTW) or do nothing and just be. Remember who you are and stop worrying about other people. Let them worry (they do anyway).
