For you guys with long hair... how do you detangle after a shower or sleeping without pulling you hair out?
Hi Steve,
Before I shower that includes washing my hair I always comb/brush out any tangles before I let it get wet.By doing that at least my hair starts off tangle free. Once done I let my hair air dry and would only attempt to comb/brush it when mostly dry or slightly damp.I've never had tangle problems doing that process. As for sleeping I just make sure my hair starts tangle free and wear it loose while wearing a Tshirt with my hair tucked underneath. That helps avoid hair pulling during sleep if you move around alot at night ;) Hope that helps.Cheers

After a shower I finger comb my hair to carefully eliminate any tangles. Then I comb it while it is still wet.
After it drys I'll comb it again and then use a brush.
When i'm sleeping i'll gather up the hair and lay it down next to me parallel to my body. i'm very careful to avoid knots. I would say in the last two years i've only had one knot and that is with wearing the hair down 95% of the time.
In past years I ended up having to chop off about 6-8 inches of hair to clean up the ends. This year I refrained from doing that and have been wearing my hair more in a pony tail/bun/braid/pig tail to avoid damage. I used to wear it down 95% of the time which most likely lead to damage. So i'm cutting down on that.
Most of the time I use my fingers to detangle my hair after waking up from sleeping/getting out of the shower. I would use a wide-toothed comb, but only once a day at max. Maybe zero times a day. I used to pull too hard when detangling by using a brush carelessly several times a day... even when my hair was wet. Whoops! Even though Ive been getting regular trims, I shouldve known better... when I was growing it out and the first 2.5 years I let it settle at its current length. When I got a little bit too much for my liking trimmed off at the end of last Summer, I thought uh-oh... guess thats a sign that I really should take better care of it...
